Warhammer 40,000: Darktide β a global Steam key for hive-city carnage in Tertium
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a co-op first-person shooter from Fatshark, released on 30 November 2022. The same studio behind Vermintide carried its signature Β«four against the hordeΒ» formula from dark fantasy into the grim science-fiction of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. You play one of the Imperium's rejects β a convict the Inquisition offers a chance at redemption the only way it knows how: descend into the infested depths of the hive city of Tertium and cut down Chaos cultists by the thousand.
Buying from us gets you a global Steam activation key. Region doesn't matter β the key lands in your library in any country, no VPN and no store-specific binding.
What the game is and why it hooks people
Darktide stands on three pillars: weighty melee with plenty of dismemberment, punchy gunplay, and psyker powers. The loop is run-based: a squad of four drops into a hive district, hacks through waves of heretics, completes objectives (detonate, activate, carry) and fends off elite enemies and bosses. The higher the difficulty, the denser the horde and the more it matters to stick together β Darktide punishes lone wolves and rewards teamwork.
There are four classes to choose from: the Veteran (ranged specialist), the Psyker (Warp magic), the Zealot (melee fanatic) and the Ogryn (a massive brute tank). Each has its own talent tree, weapons and role in the squad. Progression leans on crafting and rolling weapon modifiers, so there's plenty of reason to keep coming back after the story beats.
The atmosphere of hive Tertium
Darktide's strength isn't only the combat β it's how it presents its world. Tertium is an endless hive city: rusted industrial zones, neon-soaked slums, cult cathedrals and sewers crawling with the infected. The game constantly drops grim 40K setting detail β fanatical hymns to the Emperor, gothic architecture, the oppressive Inquisition radio chatter. The sound design and soundtrack (which, by the way, comes bundled with Imperial Edition) deepen that sense of hopeless but compelling slaughter. The mission briefings reveal who the Imperium's rejects are and why no one cares about their fate β except the Inquisition itself, which simply needs expendable bodies.
Standard vs Imperial Edition β what's the difference
We offer two editions, and both are the full game rather than an add-on to someone else's copy:
- Standard β the complete base game. All classes, missions, modes and the free updates Fatshark has rolled out since launch.
- Imperial Edition β that same base PLUS the Loyalist cosmetic pack (4 unique class outfits, 8 weapon skin patterns, a headgear piece and an Ogryn tattoo), the Mortis Veteran portrait frame, the Caducades backpack for human characters, and the official soundtrack.
It's worth being clear: everything Imperial Edition adds is cosmetic and bonus content. It doesn't touch difficulty, mission access or balance. If you just want the game, grab Standard. If you want to stand out and keep the soundtrack, go Imperial Edition.
How to activate the key on Steam
It takes a minute: open the Steam client, go to the Β«GamesΒ» menu at the top, choose Β«Activate a Product on SteamΒ», paste in the code you received and confirm. The game appears in your library and all that's left is the download. The key is global, so there's no need to switch account region or use a VPN.
System requirements and platforms
Darktide is an online shooter that leans hard on graphics and crowd physics, so it wants a solid PC: a modern multi-core CPU, an above-average GPU and an SSD all noticeably improve the experience. It runs on Steam Deck too, but expect frame-rate compromises on the handheld β a desktop PC is the comfortable home for it. Our key is the PC version for Steam.
If you're into co-op carnage
Darktide sits alongside other horde-style team games. If the fantasy ancestor from the same developers appeals, check out Warhammer: Vermintide 2. If it's the 40K universe you love and you want a third-person story-driven action game, look at Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. And for pure co-op chaos against endless enemies, there's Helldivers 2.
Quick answers
No region lock β both keys are global. Imperial Edition contains the game itself, so there's no need to buy the base separately. You can play solo with bots, but the game shines in a team. The anti-cheat and online component mean an internet connection is required to play.
