Buy Resident Evil 4 โ a Steam gift: Leon, the village and Los Iluminados
In 2023 Capcom rebuilt the game that once reshaped third-person action as a genre. Resident Evil 4 follows agent Leon Kennedy, sent to a remote Spanish village to recover the president's kidnapped daughter. Instead of the usual zombies you face ganado โ villagers whose bodies are ruled by the Las Plagas parasite โ with the Los Iluminados cult and its leader Osmund Saddler behind the abduction. We sell the game as a Steam gift: pick an edition and region, and the copy lands straight in your library.
The most action-driven remake in Capcom's modern line
Where the Raccoon City remakes squeeze you with claustrophobia and ammo scarcity, Resident Evil 4 hands you control โ then stress-tests it with a mob. Ganado don't shamble, they flank: they circle around, hurl axes, prop ladders against windows. You manage the crowd with shots to legs and arms, finish enemies in melee, and route yourself through houses and fences. The famous village-house siege near the start is still one of the genre's best combat set pieces, and the remake only made it meaner. The 2005 original defined the over-the-shoulder camera for a whole generation of games, and the 2023 version keeps that pace while rebuilding the staging, lighting, enemy behavior and the script itself โ some scenes are rewritten, some characters dug into much deeper.
The knife parry and the 2023 version's other additions
The headline mechanical addition is the knife parry: it deflects a flying axe, breaks a grab, even stops a chainsaw. The knife has durability, so every parry is a deliberate resource spend rather than a free defense button. Stealth takedowns are new too, the Merchant's economy of weapon upgrades and treasure trading was reworked, and Ashley stopped being a walking escort quest โ she has no health bar of her own, and protecting her is far more comfortable: if she's downed you just help her up, and the "close"/"spread out" commands genuinely matter in a fight. The result feels less like a nostalgic restoration and more like a standalone game arguing with the original as an equal.
Village, castle, island โ three acts with three personalities
The Resident Evil 4 campaign runs through three big acts, each with its own face: rural backwoods of pitchforks and bonfires, Salazar's gothic castle with crossbow-wielding cultists, and a militarized island of labs and heavy weapons. The Merchant and his "What are ya buyin'?" are right where they belong, the shooting-gallery ranges are back, and bosses like El Gigante and Krauser were rebuilt into full staged battles. On the tech side it's the PC (Windows) version on Steam, running on the RE Engine, friendly to controllers and comfortable on Steam Deck โ no third-party launchers involved.
Standard or Gold โ choosing your edition
The Standard Edition is Leon's complete campaign from the first path into the village to the finale. The Gold Edition adds the ยซSeparate Waysยป story campaign starring Ada Wong โ seven chapters showing the same events from the other side โ plus the Extra DLC Pack: costumes and filters for Leon and Ashley, the Sentinel Nine and Skull Shaker weapons, the classic soundtrack and a treasure map expansion. The base game is already inside Gold. The ยซBIOHAZARD RE:4ยป variant is the same game under its Asian title (in Japan the series has always been Biohazard); only the Steam region differs.
The Mercenaries โ the arcade after the credits
The Mercenaries deserves its own mention โ a score-attack mode with a timer and enemy waves that Capcom added as a free post-launch update. It's a pure skill check: short runs, combo multipliers and rank chasing once the story is done. If you go for the Gold Edition, The Mercenaries rounds out the package โ together with ยซSeparate Waysยป you're left with a good dozen or two extra hours after the campaign's finale.
How the Steam gift saves you steps
No code to fiddle with: Resident Evil 4 arrives through Steam's built-in gifting system and, once accepted, counts as an owned game in your library โ achievements, updates and cloud saves included.
The purchase flow: invite link and region
Open Steam โ Friends โ Add a Friend โ invite via link, copy the link and provide it when ordering Resident Evil 4 together with your account's region. From there the bot takes over: it adds itself as your friend, sends the gift, and removes itself from the list after delivery. There's no request for you to accept manually.
Check your region and library before paying
The lot's region has to match your Steam account's region โ visible from the currency your Steam store prices are shown in. Also make sure Resident Evil 4 isn't already owned on that account: Steam won't push a gift through for a game you have. In either mismatch case the money doesn't burn โ the amount returns to your balance on the site.
Privacy, payment and refund terms
Steam Guard isn't needed to accept the gift, and we never request account passwords โ the whole handoff uses Steam's public gifting feature. A refund is possible only with a single-take video: a continuous recording with no edits or pauses from the moment of payment through the attempt to activate Resident Evil 4; all other cases are non-refundable. Brawl Games has been operating since 2023, with payment by Russian bank cards, SBP or crypto.
Where to go in the series after the Spanish village
If the remade fourth entry is your first Resident Evil, the story has a prologue: the night Raccoon City fell through a rookie cop's eyes in Resident Evil 2, and Nemesis hunting Jill in Resident Evil 3. Ethan Winters' first-person chapter with a kindred spirit of dread continues in Resident Evil Village.
