The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut โ a Steam gift for the RPG that started it all
This is where the whole universe began. The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut is the definitive re-release of the first chapter in the saga of Geralt of Rivia โ an action-RPG by CD Projekt RED based on Andrzej Sapkowski's novels. The grim kingdom of Temeria, monsters lurking under every bridge, moral choices with no clean answer, and that unmistakable witcher mood โ it's all here, in the fullest cut of the 2008 game. You're buying a Steam Gift, not a key: our bot adds itself to your Steam friends, sends the game, and leaves โ you don't need to accept anything.
What's inside the Enhanced Edition Director's Cut
This isn't the bare 2007 original โ it's the upgraded build. What the Enhanced Edition added:
- More than 5000 lines of English dialogue rewritten and re-recorded; the German edition fully redone.
- Over 200 new gesture animations, so characters feel more believable in dialogue and cutscenes.
- A reworked inventory: a separate sack for alchemy ingredients, plus simple sort-and-stack.
- Technical fixes: much shorter load times, better stability, more responsive combat, an autosave toggle.
- Two extra adventures โ "The Price of Neutrality" and "Side Effects" โ self-contained story modules on top of the main campaign.
- The D'jinni Adventure Editor for anyone who wants to build their own quests.
The Director's Cut tag adds a bundle of bonus material: a behind-the-scenes documentary, making-of videos and a digital art book. For North America this cut also matters because it restored mature content that had been trimmed from the local release.
What the game is actually about
You play Geralt โ a witcher, a mutated monster hunter who wakes up with no memory and gets dragged into politics, conspiracies and a hunt for a mysterious order. The gameplay revolves around three sword stances (fast, strong, group), witcher Signs, and alchemy where potions are brewed in advance and tax your toxicity as much as they help. Choices ripple out chapters later, and there's rarely a "good" or "evil" button โ most decisions are grey, and the game seldom tells you who was right.
How the Steam Gift delivery works
We deliver the game as a Steam Gift through the supplier's bot. You provide two things: your Steam profile's friend-invite link and your account region. Then:
- The bot adds itself to your friends โ no manual request to accept.
- It sends the gift and automatically removes itself once delivered.
- Steam Guard is not required โ the gift goes through even without it.
- No prior activity or owned games are needed โ a clean account can receive it.
Delivery usually takes a couple of minutes after checkout. We don't promise a hard deadline, but it's typically quick.
Gift region โ the one condition that matters most
A Steam gift is region-bound. For Steam to let you accept it, your account region must match the gift's region, which you pick from the variants on this page. And the rule behind most "it won't accept" cases: the recipient account must NOT already own the game โ Steam blocks accepting a gift for a title you already have. Choose the variant for your region and make sure you don't own the game yet.
How this entry differs from the sequels
The first Witcher is the most intimate, old-school chapter of the trilogy. If the atmosphere clicks and you want more scope, next come The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings with faster, heavily branching combat and story, and the vast open world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Quick answers
The gift lands on your Steam account like any normal game โ once accepted it's yours for good, free to download and reinstall. It runs on Windows; on Steam Deck and Linux it launches through Proton, even though it isn't a "verified" title. If the bot couldn't add you, it's almost always closed friend requests or an expired invite link โ refresh the link, check your profile privacy, and we'll help you sort it out.
