Sifu: kung-fu, revenge and the price of every death
Sifu is a fast, punishing action game from French studio Sloclap, where you play a young kung-fu student raised for a single purpose: to hunt down the five killers of his father. It launched in 2022 and arrived on Steam on March 28, 2023 alongside a free update that added the Arenas mode. There are no guns and no magic here โ just your fists, the environment, and a fragile magical talisman that brings you back to life. But every return costs you years.
An aging mechanic you won't find anywhere else
Sifu's signature feature is its age counter. Every death makes your hero older: 20, 25, 40, 60โฆ With age you hit harder but your health pool shrinks. Reaching the final boss as a 20-year-old is a true test of skill, because you can barely afford to die. It turns a normal playthrough into a roguelite puzzle: you learn the levels, find shortcuts, unlock permanent skills and try to clear the whole campaign while aging as little as possible.
Combat that flows like a dance
Sifu's fighting system is inspired by the real Pak Mei (White Eyebrow) style. You weave, dodge, break an enemy's structure, parry strikes and use literally everything around you โ bottles, bats, chairs, walls. Boss fights are their own duels, each with a distinct rhythm and phases. This isn't button-mashing: the player who reads the opponent and keeps their structure wins.
What's included in the gift
You get the full base version of Sifu with the entire five-stage story campaign, the Arenas mode and every free update Sloclap shipped after release (new difficulties, modifiers, extra challenges). No add-ons to buy and no required DLC โ it's a complete game in one package.
How we deliver the gift
Sifu is sent to you as a Steam Gift through our supplier's bot. We need two things from you: your Steam friend invite link and your account region. Everything else happens on its own: the bot adds itself to your friends, sends the gift (usually in a couple of minutes) and leaves your friends list after delivery. You don't need to accept the friend request manually, and Steam Guard is not required.
Two important conditions
For Steam to accept the gift, your account region must match the gift region, and you must not already own Sifu โ Steam won't hand over a gift for a game you already have. These are the most common reasons a delivery fails, so check both before ordering. Your profile settings must also allow friend requests, otherwise the bot can't reach you.
Five levels, each with its own character
Sifu's campaign is a journey through five locations, each built around one of your father's killers. You move from rainy back alleys through a neon nightclub, a modern art museum, a corporate tower and a final mountain sanctuary. The levels are densely handcrafted, hiding shortcuts, alternate doors and secrets that open new branches and make repeat runs easier. The better you know the map, the fewer deaths โ which means the younger you reach the boss.
The feel of a Hong Kong action film
Sifu is steeped in Asian cinema aesthetics: hand-built melee animation, expressive interiors, color and light working for the mood. It's not an open world or a loot shooter but a focused, authored action game you can finish over a few evenings โ yet it only truly opens up when you replay for mastery. You want to come back and clear a stage cleaner, younger and more stylish than last time.
Why a Steam gift, not a key
We deliver Sifu specifically as a Steam gift: the game drops straight into your Steam library, as if a friend sent it. You don't need to enter an activation code โ just accept the gift once. It's convenient and familiar for Steam, but it comes with two conditions (account region and not already owning the game) that we point out honestly above.
Is Sifu for you
If you love honest, skill-based action in the spirit of old Hong Kong martial-arts films, where your hand and your head win โ not a power level โ Sifu is for you. The game rewards patience and mastery. Into similarly demanding action games? Check out Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and its katana duels, the high-speed parkour slasher Ghostrunner, or the roguelite Hades, where death is also part of the progress.
