FAQ

Just Cause 4: revolution, tornadoes and a grappling hook on Solís

Just Cause 4 is a vast sandbox from Avalanche Studios (published by Square Enix), released on 4 December 2018. Rico Rodriguez returns to tear down the Black Hand dictatorship across the fictional South American island of Solís — four biomes spanning rainforest, desert and snowy peaks. The point here isn't the plot, it's the freedom to break everything around you: a grappling hook with customisable tethers, balloons and boosters, an endless wingsuit, a parachute, and physics that are the whole reason for the chaos. Buying a global Steam key from us gets you the full game, and you decide how much extra content to grab.

What makes Just Cause 4 stand out

The headline feature of the fourth game is extreme weather. Real tornadoes roam the map, hurling cars and soldiers into the air, alongside sandstorms, thunderstorms and tropical downpours. They're not just scenery: you can weaponise a twister by grappling enemies straight into it. The grapple-wingsuit-parachute combo lets you stay airborne for minutes, and tether customisation turns every base into your personal physics lab — yank a helicopter into explosive barrels, strap enemies to balloons, send fuel tankers flying. If you love an open world where the laws of physics are a toy in your hands, the Just Cause series was built for exactly that.

Editions: Reloaded, Gold and Complete

We sell three editions, and all three are the full game — the only difference is how much extra content is bundled in:

  • Reloaded Edition — the base game plus the Reloaded Content Pack: the cosmetic Skystriker (weaponised wingsuit), Black Hand Stealth Micro Jet, Neon Racer, Deathstalker Scorpion and Renegade packs. The ideal entry if you want the campaign and the sandbox without story add-ons.
  • Gold Edition — everything in Reloaded plus the Expansion Pass (three story add-ons) and the Golden Gear Pack. The sweet spot: cosmetics and full expansions together.
  • Complete Edition — the maximum: everything ever released for the game, including all expansions and packs. Pick it if you want all of Just Cause 4 at once with nothing left to buy.

What's in the Expansion Pass

The Expansion Pass (in Gold and Complete) is three standalone story add-ons, and all of them are already out:

  • Dare Devils of Destruction — survival races and stunt rallies on outrageous vehicles.
  • Los Demonios (released 3 July 2019) — Rico defends Solís against an invading demonic force, with new weapons and enemies.
  • Danger Rising (released 5 September 2019) — the final showdown with the Agency, adding a hoverboard and new missions.

Since all three add-ons launched long ago, you get them right away — this isn't a pre-order or future content.

How to activate the key

It all happens in Steam in under a minute. Open the Steam client, in the “Games” menu choose “Activate a Product on Steam…”, enter the code you received, and Just Cause 4 appears in your library ready to download. The key is global: it activates in Steam in any country, with no VPN or regional tricks needed. The code arrives after payment, usually in a couple of minutes.

Platform and compatibility

This is a key for the PC version on Steam — it won't work on Xbox or PlayStation consoles. The game is officially Windows-only; on Steam Deck and Linux it runs through the Proton compatibility layer, but without official developer support, so minor quirks are possible. On a regular Windows PC you'll have no trouble.

Which edition to choose

If what you care about is the sandbox and the main story, and the story add-ons aren't a priority — go for Reloaded: it's the whole game plus some nice cosmetics, the most budget-friendly entry. Want the same three expansions that shipped under the Expansion Pass plus a golden gear set — then Gold: a sensible balance of content and price. And if your motto is “everything at once so I never have to buy more” — Complete settles it entirely, bundling every piece of Just Cause 4 content ever released. You can also upgrade between editions in Steam by buying individual DLC later, but a single complete key is almost always cheaper and simpler.

The world of Solís and what to do

Solís isn't just a backdrop but four climate zones each with their own hazards: humid jungle, a scorched desert with sandstorms, snowy mountain peaks and storm-swept plains. The story is driven by Rico's clash with the Black Hand mercenaries led by Gabriela Morales, but most of your time goes into liberating regions, sabotaging the enemy and testing the limits of the Apex physics engine. Beyond the campaign there are challenges, collectibles, gear unlocks and dozens of ways to turn an ordinary firefight into a staged explosion — replayability rests on that freedom of self-expression.
