Grounded 2 is the co-op survival sequel from Obsidian Entertainment and Eidos-Montréal, published by Xbox Game Studios. Buggies, the Omni-Tool and reworked combat

The sequel didn't just grow the map — it changed the pace of survival. The headline addition is Buggies: insects you can now tame and ride, turning long treks across the giant park into fast, tactical outings. Different ridable species have their own quirks and uses, so choosing your "mount" is part of the survival strategy too. Combat goes deeper with new melee moves and options, making fights against spiders and wasps feel like small battles where timing and gear decide the outcome. And the Omni-Tool rolls several jobs into one device, noticeably streamlining crafting and resource gathering.

Brookhollow Park — the new sandbox

The setting of Grounded 2 was designed with years of growth in mind: the park is far bigger than the original's backyard and split into distinct zones — from lawns and flowerbeds to dark corners you shouldn't enter without chitin armor. The park's layout and the ridable-insect system were designed together: distances are tuned for traveling on bug-back, not just on foot, so exploration feels different from the first game. Since the Early Access launch the game has already received several major free updates with new areas, creatures and bosses — including a tarantula boss and fresh zones like the Garden and an anthill — and the developers keep expanding the map along a published roadmap.

Co-op for up to four players

Like the first game, Grounded 2 is built around playing together. You can go solo — the story and progression are fully available alone — but the real fun starts when four of you build a base on a branch, split roles (someone farms, someone fights, someone designs the defenses) and fend off night raids as a team.
