Grounded is a co-op survival game from Obsidian where you've been shrunk to the size of an ant and dropped into a suburban backyard. Blades of grass become a jungle, a ladybug becomes a boss, and a puddle becomes an ocean. Craft gear, build bases and explore the micro-world solo or with up to four players. You get the full version of the game as a Steam Gift.

What kind of game this is

Grounded is a first- and third-person survival game that left Early Access on September 27, 2022. You wake up tiny in the middle of a backyard and have to survive: gather resources, drink water, find food, craft tools and weapons, build bases and gradually figure out what happened and why you ended up so small. The story isn't just set dressing — exploring the yard slowly uncovers a real mystery.

Solo or with friends

The heart of Grounded is co-op. You can conquer the yard alone, or team up with up to four players online. Building massive bases out of grass stems, fending off spiders, exploring the dangerous zones under the porch and around the oak tree — all of it works in co-op and noticeably changes how the game feels. Want calm solo survival? Go for it. Want chaos with friends? That works too.

Mutations appear — passive perks earned by how you play — alongside a tech tree and bosses you genuinely have to prepare for. There's both a story goal and a long sandbox crafting loop, so the game doesn't end when you finish your first hut.

This is the Steam (PC) version. The game runs on Windows; many people play it via Steam Deck and Proton, but it's best to check the game's Steam page for the current verification status. Saves and progress are tied to your Steam account, so after you activate the gift you can keep going from any PC where you're logged into Steam.
