Fallout 76 for Xbox โ your key into irradiated Appalachia
Fallout 76 is an online survival RPG from Bethesda Game Studios, released on November 14, 2018. It's set in 2102, just 25 years after the bombs dropped: you step out of Vault 76 into Appalachia โ post-apocalyptic West Virginia โ to rebuild a shattered world. You're surrounded by live players, mutants, raiders and factions, and you decide whether to build a settlement, hunt bosses or simply explore the map. Here you buy an Xbox activation key.
What kind of game it is
Fallout 76 blends the series' signature flavour โ retro-futurism, dark humour, the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system and perk cards โ with survival mechanics and co-op. You build a base with the C.A.M.P. system, craft weapons and armour, work through story lines and seasonal events, and trade or fight with other survivors. The game keeps evolving: Bethesda has shipped major updates for years, adding regions, expeditions and features, so even years after launch there's plenty to do in Appalachia.
What you get with your purchase
You're buying an Xbox key. After payment you receive a code that you redeem on your Microsoft account โ the game or set lands in your library and stays tied to the account for good. The key works on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. There's nothing to fill in on our side: it's delivered as a code, and everything else happens inside Microsoft's ecosystem โ quick and familiar.
Which Xbox it works on and why it isn't Play Anywhere
Straight up: Fallout 76 is not part of Xbox Play Anywhere. This key is Xbox-only; to play on PC you need a separate copy, and the servers are split by platform. There's no Xbox-to-PC cross-play: both console lines (Xbox One together with Series X|S) play on their own servers. If you specifically want the console version for Xbox โ this is it.
Editions: which to pick
This page lists two kinds of full versions:
- Standard Edition โ base Fallout 76 with all the core content and seasons. Sold in regional variants: CIS, Latin America, Asia and MENA. It's the complete game, nothing extra to buy.
- Gone Fission Deluxe Edition โ a global key: the same base game plus the Atomic Angler item set. If you want to start with a themed angler kit right away, grab this one โ the base game is already inside.
Separately, the page may list the Atomic Angler Bundle โ items only, without the game itself, covered below.
What's inside the Atomic Angler set. The Atomic Angler Bundle is a set of in-game items tied to the Gone Fission update, not a standalone copy of the game. It includes the Hydro Tech Exo power armor, the Charmcaster fishing rod, a Floating Buoy set, the Live Bait barrel, the Appalachian Contessa prefab and a pair of titles (the "Contessa" prefix and the "Buoy" suffix). ๐ฃ Important: for the set to work, base Fallout 76 must already be installed on the same account. If you don't own the base yet, it makes more sense to take the Gone Fission Deluxe, where it all comes bundled with the game.
Regional keys โ the key thing to know
The Standard Edition is region-locked, and that's the main thing to watch. The key region (CIS, LATAM, Asia, MENA) must match your Microsoft account region, otherwise the Microsoft Store won't accept the code. Your account region is visible and changeable in your Microsoft profile settings; for players from Russia and the CIS the CIS variant fits. The Gone Fission Deluxe and Atomic Angler keys, on the other hand, are global โ no region worries there at all.
How to redeem on Xbox
Head to redeem.microsoft.com or open the Microsoft Store right on your console or PC, sign in to the right Microsoft account, choose "Redeem code" and enter the key. Before that, make sure your account region matches the key region โ that's the crucial check for the Standard edition. Once redeemed, the game shows up in your library; just download it and dive into Appalachia. Steam accounts and Steam Guard aren't involved here โ all delivery goes through Microsoft.
The Gone Fission update and fishing
One of the major updates is Gone Fission (Season 21, launched June 3, 2025), which brought full-blown fishing to Appalachia. It's a calm activity with no firefights: fishing yields resources, recipes and a steady farm, and the themed Atomic Angler set turns it into a hobby of its own within the wasteland. The Deluxe edition and the item bundle on the page are built around this very update.
Refunds and sanctioned regions
A refund on the key is possible only with a continuous video recording โ from payment to the code redemption attempt on your Microsoft account, with no editing, cuts or pauses; otherwise the code counts as used. On sanctioned regions the caveat is honest: Microsoft officially limits some store functions there (payment and wallet top-ups), redeeming a region-matching key usually works, but we can't guarantee the Microsoft Store's behaviour. If something doesn't line up while entering the code, message support.
Where to start as a new survivor
The first hours in Appalachia are friendlier than they look. Follow the main Pip-Boy quests right away โ they walk you across the map and hand you starter gear. Don't hoard everything: grab weapons, ammo, food and crafting components, and leave the rest. Drop a C.A.M.P. near water and resources so you've got a spot to repair armor and cook. Build your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. around your playstyle โ guns, melee or stealth โ and don't be afraid to re-roll perk cards. And with the Gone Fission update you can take a breather and just fish.
