What the game is and why people rave about it
DREDGE was made by New Zealand studio Black Salt Games and published by Team17 (the Overcooked folks, and a long line of solid indies). It launched on March 30, 2023. Genre-wise it's a fishing adventure with Lovecraftian horror and light management: you steer your boat in third person, catch fish via a timing mini-game, sell your haul, and reinvest in nets, rods, engines and a Tetris-style cargo hold. A mysterious Collector sends you after strange relics piece by piece — and the deeper you go, the less this feels like a calm day on the water.
The hook — panic and a warped sense of reality
The heart of DREDGE is its panic system. The longer you stay out at sea at night without sleep, the more the world distorts: phantom rocks appear, lights double, the silhouettes of ships that aren't really there drift out of the fog. Want more time and rare nocturnal fish? You gamble with your captain's sanity. Want to be safe? Make port before dark. That simple but gripping loop of greed against fear is what carries the 10–15 hours of the base game.
What's included in this edition
You're buying the Standard Edition — the complete base game with no add-ons. You get every main region of the archipelago, the full story, a bestiary of dozens of fish species (including unsettling aberrations) and all the core mechanics. The story expansions — the icy The Pale Reach (released November 16, 2023) and the industrial The Iron Rig, set around an oil rig with over fifty new fish (released August 15, 2024) — are not included here. If you want to extend the journey, you can pick them up as separate purchases on Steam once you've finished the main story.

How to activate the key on Steam

Mouse-and-keyboard and gamepad are both supported, and Russian text localization is included.
