Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the big return of BioWare and Electronic Arts' legendary RPG series, released on October 31, 2024. Ten years after Dragon Age: Inquisition, the mage Solas tears the Veil and unleashes the ancient elven gods Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain upon Thedas. You create a hero named Rook, assemble the Veilguard and stand between the world and disaster. There's no old tactical-pause camera here — combat plays out in real time as you swing with spells, bow or blade, trigger companion abilities and weave them into combos. What the game is and why fans waited
The Veilguard is the tenth major chapter of the Dragon Age universe and a direct continuation of story threads BioWare set up back in the Trespasser DLC. You explore new regions of Thedas — the shimmering Arlathan, the grim Minrathous, pirate-ruled Rivain — and make choices that reshape the fates of companions and entire cities. Your party holds seven companions, each with their own story, personality and relationship arc, from the necromancer Emmrich to the Veil-jumper detective Neve. The series staples are all here: race and class choice (Warrior, Mage, Rogue), morality with no black-and-white answers, and companions worth replaying for. Only now it's all wrapped in a far more dynamic, almost action-slasher combat system.
Standard vs Deluxe — which to pick
The catalog has two editions, and both are the complete game:
- Standard Edition — the base Dragon Age: The Veilguard with no extras. Full story, all companions, all regions.
- Deluxe Edition — the same complete game plus an ancient-Arlathan cosmetic pack. It includes three armor sets for Rook (one per class — Warrior, Mage and Rogue), six cosmetic weapons for Rook, and an armor and weapon set for each of the seven companions. These items are purely visual: they change how your heroes look but grant no combat advantage and don't affect difficulty. You collect the set from the chest in the Lighthouse infirmary after the first quest.
If you only care about story and gameplay, take Standard. If you want to dress Rook and the crew in striking ancient-elven armor from the start, go Deluxe. The Deluxe cosmetics don't break balance, so it's purely an aesthetic choice.
How we deliver the gift
This is a Steam Gift, not a key: the game arrives directly on your account. The flow is simple. At checkout you provide your Steam friend-invite link (grab it from your profile via “Add Friend”) and your account region. Region and library — the two key conditions
A Steam gift is tied to a region, so there are two rules without which the gift won't go through. First, your Steam account region must match the region of the gift variant you chose — so state your region honestly at checkout. Second, Dragon Age: The Veilguard must not already be in your account's library: Steam won't let you accept a gift for a game you already own. Also make sure your profile privacy settings allow friend requests, otherwise the bot can't find you. If something doesn't line up, it's usually enough to enable incoming requests and send a fresh invite link.
System requirements and platform
The Veilguard runs on PC via Steam (Windows). It's a single-player game and doesn't require an always-online connection for the campaign. It's a modern AAA title, so recent hardware helps for a smooth picture, but the engine scales reasonably onto mid-range setups. The gift installs into your Steam library like any normal purchase — with cloud saves, achievements and updates.
