Dishonored: Death of the Outsider β the standalone finale to the Outsider's saga
Death of the Outsider is a full standalone adventure set in the world of Dishonored 2, and it doesn't require the base game to play. Arkane Lyon sends you back to Karnaca as Billie Lurk β Daud's former second-in-command β with one audacious goal: hunt down and kill the Outsider himself, the mystical being who has handed out his Marks and bent fates for centuries. It's a short but dense story that distills Dishonored's signature freedom into its purest form: every level is its own puzzle box where you decide whether to move like a shadow or unleash a bloody storm.
What you get as a gift
This lot gives you the full version of Dishonored: Death of the Outsider as a Steam gift. It's the Standard edition β the entire campaign, all of Billie's abilities, and the Contracts mode. Accept the gift and the game lands in your Steam library like any other purchase: reinstallable, tied to your account, and patched over time.
Do you need Dishonored 2 or the first game?
No β and this is the thing that confuses most people. Death of the Outsider is standalone: a separate product that boots up on its own. You don't have to own Dishonored 2 or the original Dishonored Definitive Edition to play it. Of course, if you've finished the earlier games you'll feel the closure of the BillieβDaudβOutsider arc more deeply, but as an entry point into the series it works on its own.
Billie Lurk's powers
Billie isn't Corvo or Emily β she has her own toolkit, unconnected to the Outsider's Mark, and it keeps the gameplay fresh even for series veterans:
- Displace β drop a spectral marker, then instantly teleport to it; a clever take on Blink for slipping past guards and climbing vertically.
- Semblance β steal the face of a knocked-out person and wear it as a disguise, walking past guards unnoticed.
- Foresight β freeze and scan the area, tagging enemies, loot and routes so you can plan your path.
One important detail: Billie has no mana bar or potions β her powers recharge on their own. That removes the micromanagement and nudges you to experiment.
Stealth or chaos β your call
Like the rest of the series, Death of the Outsider doesn't punish you with the old Chaos system for how you play. Ghost through without raising an alarm, or turn every mansion into a battlefield β it's up to you. Levels are open sandboxes with a dozen routes each: sewers, rooftops, windows, vents, bribes, disguises. The late locations β a bank, a black market, the ancient ruins of the Outsider's cult β are among the most inventive Arkane has ever built.
Contracts mode and replay value
Beyond the story there's the Original Game+ / Contracts mode: optional side jobs on familiar maps for in-game currency. It stretches the game well past the main campaign and gives you a reason to come back and master a new playstyle.
Gift region: ASIA and LATAM
The gift comes in two regional versions β ASIA and LATAM (Latin America). That means delivery is region-bound: for the gift to be accepted smoothly, your Steam account region (country) should match the gift's region. Checking your region is easy: Steam β account name β "Account details" β the "Country" line. Also note: this game must not already be in your Steam library, otherwise the gift won't be accepted. On the product page, pick the version that matches your account, and if you're unsure, message us before paying so you don't pick wrong.
How the gift arrives
After payment the our bot adds you as a friend on Steam, sends the game as a Steam gift, and leaves once it's delivered. You don't need to send anything back or accept any trade offers β a real gift arrives exactly as a Steam gift, and Steam Guard isn't required to receive it. Delivery usually takes a couple of minutes. Once accepted, the game is yours forever β an outright purchase, not a subscription.
Tech and Steam Deck
The game runs on the Void engine (a modified id Tech) and is still very well optimized: it launches on modest hardware, supports high frame rates and ultrawide monitors. On Steam Deck and on Linux via Proton it plays without any fuss β a handy pocket option for short stealth sessions.
Why pick it up
If you love immersive sims β Dishonored, Thief, Hitman, Deus Ex β and want a compact, polished 6β10 hour story with high replay value, Death of the Outsider delivers exactly that, with no obligation to finish two big games first. And if you're already a fan of the series, this is your chance to finally face the Outsider head-on. Compare it with Dishonored 2 if you want Emily and Corvo's full story leading into this finale.
