Prague, 2029. Two years after the «Incident» of Human Revolution, when augmented people across the world briefly lost control and caused a bloodbath, society is fractured. A «mechanical apartheid» pushes the augmented into ghettos, checkpoints and constant surveillance. Adam Jensen is an Interpol operative inside TF29 and, at the same time, a secret ally of a hacker collective. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is a dark cyberpunk immersive sim by Eidos-Montréal where every mission is a puzzle with many solutions and you decide who you want to be.

What the game is and why people love it

Mankind Divided is all about freedom of approach. Any objective has several valid paths: slip past guards in stealth, hack cameras and turrets, win a social «conversation duel», or simply fight your way through. Levels are designed as multi-layered labyrinths — vents, side corridors, hackable doors, hidden routes. Progression revolves around Jensen's augmentations: cloaking, remote hacking, armored skin, silent takedowns, the Icarus Dash and experimental implants you must balance so your body can handle them.

Story and atmosphere

The core theme is intolerance and segregation, told through a neon-lit Prague, the fortress-like Palisade corporate banks, and terror coming from both sides of the conflict. The signature gold-and-black art style, heavy ambient score and branching dialogue make this a game where you stop, read someone's hacked messages, and realize there are no clean heroes — only shades of grey.

What the gift includes

You get the base Deus Ex: Mankind Divided game: the full single-player campaign with all side missions and the Breach mode. The story add-ons System Rift (released September 23, 2016) and A Criminal Past (February 23, 2017) were sold separately or as part of the Season Pass and are not included in this gift. If you want the DLC, buy them separately on Steam.

On PC it supports DirectX 12 and was demanding for its generation — it still looks great as a benchmark piece.

Mankind Divided is the direct sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution and part of the Adam Jensen prequel duology, picking up right after the «Incident». If you enjoy open-ended design and hack-stealth, look at Dishonored 2 with its similar «play your way» philosophy, and for modern cyberpunk the closest neighbor is Cyberpunk 2077.

Breach mode and replayability

Beyond the story, the base game ships with a separate Breach mode — an arcade-styled «virtual» server-hacking challenge with leaderboards, time trials and its own progression. It's a different rhythm from the slow-burn campaign: fast runs, risk-reward, booster-card upgrades. The campaign itself rewards replays through its forks: lethal or non-lethal runs, multiple endings, hidden missions, and bosses you can «handle» without firing a shot. The same level played again with a different augmentation build feels brand new.
