Deep Rock Galactic is a co-op first-person shooter where you and up to three friends play bearded space dwarves working for the Deep Rock Galactic corporation. The job sounds simple and plays out brutal: descend into the procedurally generated caves of planet Hoxxes IV, drill through rock, mine valuable minerals and get back to the drop pod alive while waves of Glyphid bugs pour in from every direction. Ghost Ship Games launched the game in Early Access in 2018, with the full release landing on May 13, 2020 — and since then DRG has become one of the warmest, most enduring co-op games on Steam. What makes Deep Rock Galactic special

DRG's signature feature is its fully destructible caves. There are essentially no fixed walls: you dig your own path anywhere, collapse ceilings and carve shafts up or down. Every dive is freshly generated, so no two missions feel the same. Pair that with its all-for-one design — you can't just split up and farm solo, because the deep caves will eat an uncoordinated team alive in seconds. Four classes, four roles

The squad has four specializations, each with a distinct feel:

  • Gunner — heavy firepower, a minigun and a zipline to ferry the whole team across chasms.
  • Scout — mobility, a grappling hook and flares to light up the huge dark caverns.
  • Engineer — turrets, platforms for building bridges and zone control.
  • Driller — two handheld drills that chew straight through rock, plus a flamethrower for the swarms.

You can also play solo, joined by Bosco, a helper drone that digs, mines and covers you. But the game truly shines in 1–4 player teams.
