Dead Space β the cult space horror remake, delivered as a Steam gift
Dead Space is a from-the-ground-up rebuild of the legendary 2008 survival horror, released in January 2023 by Motive under Electronic Arts. This is no lazy "remaster on an old skeleton": the original was rebuilt on the Frostbite engine with modern lighting, peelable necromorph bodies and a seamless camera that never breaks for a loading screen or a cutscene from start to finish. You buy the game from us and receive it as a Steam gift straight to your account β after that it's yours forever in your library.
What the game is about
You play engineer Isaac Clarke, who boards the giant mining ship Ishimura in response to a distress call. Instead of a crew, you find necromorphs: mutilated, reanimated bodies you can't simply shoot in the head. The core mechanic of Dead Space is dismemberment β to stop a creature you have to cut its limbs off with a plasma cutter. That changes the whole logic of combat: you aim for arms and legs, not the torso, conserve ammo and constantly decide which threat to neutralise first. Add zero-gravity sections, vacuum areas where sound disappears, and the signature droning hum of the Ishimura, and you get one of the most atmospheric horrors in the genre.
What's new versus the original
Motive didn't just bump the graphics. Isaac now speaks β he has a full voice and personality instead of being a silent mannequin. The ship became one seamless space with no loading screens: you can backtrack to cleared sectors, and new routes and side missions opened up. The "Peeling" damage system was reworked so that a necromorph's flesh tears away layer by layer, exposing muscle and bone, which directly affects how quickly you can disable it. An "intensity director" dynamically throws in enemies and sounds so you never feel safe.
Editions: Standard and Deluxe
We offer two versions of the same game. Standard Edition is the full remake: the whole campaign, every mechanic, nothing else to buy. Deluxe Edition is the same game plus a set of five cosmetic items:
- Three RIG suits: Infested (Isaac looks infected, with flesh tendrils bursting through the armour), Lone Survivor (a grim, makeshift look with grisly trophies) and Venture (a cyberpunk suit with an enhanced LED visor);
- Two suit textures: Sanctified (Unitology symbols engraved across the metal plating) and Bloodied (a blood-soaked version of the armour).
Keep in mind these items are purely cosmetic. They give no advantage to armour, inventory slots or damage β they only change Isaac's appearance. You unlock them in-game after finishing Chapter 1. If you care about the look and the collection of outfits, go Deluxe; if you only want the horror itself, Standard is completely self-contained.
How we deliver the game
Dead Space comes to you as a Steam gift. The flow is simple: you leave your Steam friend invite link and state your account region, you pay, and our bot adds itself as your friend, sends the gift, then leaves your friend list after delivery. You don't need to accept the friend request, and Steam Guard isn't required for this. Delivery usually takes just a couple of minutes. All that's left for you is to click "Accept Gift" and the game lands in your library like a normal purchase.
What to check before buying
For Steam to let you accept the gift, two conditions must hold. First, your account region must match the gift region β you specify it at checkout. Second, Dead Space must not already be in your library: Steam won't let you accept a gift for a game you already own β that's the single most common cause of failure. Also make sure friend adding is allowed in your profile settings, otherwise the bot can't reach you.
Who Dead Space is for
If you love tense horror built on sound, darkness and ammo scarcity rather than cheap jump scares, this is your game. Fans of claustrophobic space dread and limb-by-limb survival will get a dozen hours of pure tension. If you enjoy the remake, check out the story sequel Dead Space 2, the spiritual successor The Callisto Protocol from the original's creators, and the benchmark of the horror-remake genre, Resident Evil 4. For now β welcome aboard the Ishimura. In space, no one can hear you.
