Battlefield 3 Premium Edition: DICE's full military shooter as a Steam gift
Battlefield 3 is the shooter that set the bar for large-scale military multiplayer back in 2011. Built by DICE on the Frostbite 2 engine, it delivers battles for up to 64 players on PC, destructible buildings, jet-powered vehicles and gunfire audio that still gives you chills. A tank tears down the wall you were hiding behind, a fighter jet screams across the map, and infantry holds the point through a storm of shrapnel. Premium Edition hands you the whole game โ the base plus all five expansions at once.
What Premium Edition is and what's inside
Premium Edition is the Battlefield 3 base game plus full Premium membership with all five expansions. No buying maps one at a time โ it's all already in.
- Back to Karkand โ remakes of legendary Battlefield 2 maps (Strike at Karkand, Wake Island, Gulf of Oman, Sharqi Peninsula).
- Close Quarters โ tight, interior-focused maps built for intense close-range firefights and heavy destruction.
- Armored Kill โ all about vehicles: huge open maps, tanks, gunships and the biggest map in the series at the time.
- Aftermath โ earthquake-struck maps, a new weapon class (crossbow) and the Scavenger mode.
- End Game โ dirt bikes, Capture the Flag and fast-paced maps for high-tempo play.
Together the five expansions add 20 new maps, new weapons, more than ten vehicles and four new game modes. On top come Premium bonus items: the Multiplayer Head-Start Kit (instantly unlocks 15 weapons, gadgets and vehicle upgrades), the exclusive ACB-90 knife, a set of dog tags and unique soldier and weapon camos.
Why Battlefield 3 still holds up
Battlefield's strength has always been mixing infantry and vehicles on a single map. You can spend a whole match sniping from the hills, take the controls of a helicopter, or repair a teammate's tank under fire โ all in one battle. Frostbite destruction turns cover into rubble, and smart teamwork decides a round more than raw aim. The campaign is here too: a cinematic, set-piece-driven story line if you want a break from multiplayer.
How you receive the game: a Steam gift
This isn't a code โ it's a Steam Gift. We send Battlefield 3 Premium Edition straight to your account via a bot. We need two things from you: your Steam friend invite link and your account region. The bot does the rest: it adds itself as your friend, sends the gift, and leaves your friends list after delivery. You don't need to accept the friend request, and Steam Guard isn't required either.
Region and ownership โ the two key conditions
Steam will only accept the gift under two conditions. First: your account region matches the gift region โ so enter your region correctly at checkout. Second: Battlefield 3 must not already be in that account's library, otherwise Steam simply won't let you accept the gift. With both met, delivery usually takes a couple of minutes.
If something goes wrong
The hiccup is usually simple: a private profile blocks the bot's friend request, or the invite link expired. Check that friend requests are allowed in your profile settings, refresh the link and message us โ we'll get the delivery through. Failures are rare, but if one happens we work to fix it fast.
Launch, platform and system notes
Battlefield 3 on Steam is the Windows PC version โ the same one that once shipped through EA. Once you accept the gift, the game lands in your Steam library like any normal purchase: download, install and play. On first launch the game uses EA's services for multiplayer, so an EA account comes in handy for online battles โ that's a built-in part of BF3, not a quirk of our delivery. On modern hardware it runs easily: the game is over a decade old and its requirements are modest by today's standards, so focus on a stable ping and good internet rather than your rig. If you like playing handheld on Steam Deck or on Linux, note that BF3 multiplayer can be fussy with anti-cheat and EA services โ the single-player campaign starts up more reliably than online.
Tips for newcomers before your first match
If you're new to the series, don't try to solo-carry. Battlefield is about the team: heal and revive allies as a Medic, hand out ammo as an Assault, repair vehicles as an Engineer and spot enemies as a Recon. Support points add up just as fast as kills and unlock new gear quicker. The Premium Edition Head-Start Kit gives you 15 unlocks right away, so you start with a solid set of gadgets and upgrades rather than a bare rifle โ a noticeably softer entry for anyone joining the game now.
What else to check out
If you're into military classics, look at Battlefield 4 โ the direct sequel with even more destruction. For a single-player campaign and a World War I atmosphere, try Battlefield 1. And for warm series nostalgia, there's Battlefield: Bad Company 2 with its trademark humor and destruction.
๐ฎ Other games in the series
Nearby in the catalog: Battlefield 6, Battlefield 2042.
