Worms W.M.D β the chaotic worms are back on Steam
Worms W.M.D is the nineteenth entry in Team17's iconic Worms series, released on 23 August 2016. The developers deliberately went back to the roots: after years of 3D experiments and arcade spin-offs, the game returned to a classic 2D turn-based artillery format, as close in spirit to the legendary Worms Armageddon as it gets. If you remember evenings spent lobbing bazookas and Holy Hand Grenades with squeaky-voiced worm squads, this is exactly that β only with new mechanics and lush hand-drawn visuals.
What's new compared to older Worms
The headline addition in Worms W.M.D is the crafting system. Right during a match (even outside your own turn) you build weapons from parts dropped in special crates or salvaged by dismantling weapons you don't need. It turns every game into a little resource race: hoard parts for something devastating, or churn out small stuff right now.
- Vehicles. For the first time in the series, worms take the wheel β tanks, helicopters and mechs are available from the start or airdropped to rain fire on the enemy.
- Turrets. Stationary gun emplacements sweep the map and reshape your defensive tactics.
- Buildings. Worms can step inside structures to hide from fire, adding a fresh layer of cover.
- Weapons. New gadgets like a dodgy phone battery and a fiery bazooka sit next to the classics β the Holy Hand Grenade is of course present.
Modes and online play
Worms W.M.D features a single-player campaign with missions and challenges, local same-screen battles, and full online multiplayer for up to six players. This is a game that shines in company: chaos, trash talk and last-second comebacks. The gift gives you the complete, uncut version β the whole arsenal, every mode.
What you get and how delivery works
You're buying the full Worms W.M.D game as a Steam gift. The mechanic is simple: you provide your Steam friend invite link and your account region, and our bot adds itself, sends the gift, then leaves your friends list after delivery. You don't need to accept the friend request manually, and Steam Guard is not required. Delivery usually takes a couple of minutes after checkout.
Key region and account conditions
Steam gifts have two rules worth checking in advance. First, your Steam account region must match the gift region β otherwise Steam simply won't let you accept it. Enter your region in the order field and we'll match the right option. Second, Worms W.M.D must not already be in your library β you can't accept a gift for a game you already own. Also make sure your profile privacy settings allow friend requests, otherwise the bot can't reach you.
Gameplay: why it's so addictive
The core of Worms W.M.D is simple and brilliant at once: your worm squad and the enemy's take turns across a destructible map, judging wind and angle, trying to knock each other into the water or blow them to bits. But the devil is in the details β the turn timer, limited ammo, explosion physics that reshape the ground under your feet, and that perfect moment when your bazooka misses and an exploding sheep comes back at you. Add crafting and vehicles on top, and every match becomes an unpredictable circus where the cunning win as often as the accurate. That blend of tactics and absurd humour is exactly why the series has thrived for decades.
Tech notes: Steam Deck, Linux and controls
Worms W.M.D officially shipped on Windows, macOS and Linux, so it runs on PC and Steam Deck without any hassle. It plays great with both keyboard-and-mouse and a gamepad β a plus for couch and big-screen sessions. Since you receive a full Steam product as a gift, you get cloud saves, Steam achievements and updates β everything you'd have from a normal Steam store purchase, just cheaper.
Who it's for
Worms W.M.D is a great pick if you love light-hearted turn-based tactics, couch sessions with friends, or want to revisit a golden genre classic in a modern wrapper. It's a game you can happily show a newcomer and one a series veteran will gladly return to. If you enjoy other chaotic co-op and turn-based titles from Team17, check out Worms Rumble and Overcooked! 2, while fans of the whole series will enjoy Worms Revolution.
