Windrose is a PvE survival adventure set in an alternative Age of Piracy by Kraken Express (published by Pocketpair, the Palworld team). Build, craft, fight on land and sea, recruit a crew and command customizable ships in boarding battles — solo or in co-op for up to 8 players. You receive the full game as a Steam gift to your account.

Once the gift is delivered it cannot be refunded. If Steam rejects the gift due to region mismatch, the full amount is returned to your site balance.

What kind of game it is

Windrose drops you into a huge open world built from procedural biomes and hand-crafted dungeons — over 90 points of interest worth exploring. By day you chop wood, mine ore and raise your outpost; by night you fend off creatures and bosses in a soulslite style where timing and your armor-and-weapon combos matter. Then you head out to sea. Ships here aren't decoration: ketch, brig, frigate — all upgradable and customizable, ready for naval battles and boarding actions.

The world is full of pirate clans, real historical figures and supernatural forces. You recruit NPCs into your crew, grow a settlement, build reputation with factions and shape your character through talents. There's no grind for grind's sake — every dungeon run or storm voyage shifts the balance.

Solo or with a crew

Windrose is fully playable solo and offline — no one forces you online. But it shines in co-op: up to 8 players on self-hosted or dedicated servers, with around 4 recommended for smooth late game. Split the roles: someone steers the ship, someone leads the boarding party, someone guards the base — and pirate life takes on a whole new color.

What Early Access means here

The game launched on 14 April 2026 in Early Access. That means you're getting a full, playable version with a lot of content, while the studio keeps building: roughly +50% more content is planned — new biomes, bosses, enemies and the story's conclusion. The team estimates Early Access will run about 1.5–2.5 years. Buy now and you get every Early Access update at no extra cost while the world grows. If a fully polished final version is a must-have for you, that's worth keeping in mind.
