Co-op and solo play

The heart of Vermintide 2 is up to 4-player co-op. The dynamic Director system throws hordes and special enemies at you so that no two runs of the same map feel alike.

Each hero levels up, unlocks new talents and moves, and loot drops at the end of every run — weapons, charms and trinkets you can salvage and craft to suit your build. Difficulties climb from Recruit to Legend and Cataclysm, and at the top a single missed block or a broken formation wipes the whole team. Add the Chaos Wastes modifiers with random boons and curses, and the same map plays differently every time. It's exactly this loop of tactile combat, deep progression and procedural randomness that makes hundreds of hours melt away in Vermintide 2.

The End Times atmosphere

Fatshark went all in on the grim Warhammer Fantasy aesthetic: ravaged villages, smoldering cities, swamps and dungeons crawling with enemies, and a soundscape — clashing steel, shrieking Skaven, roaring Chaos warriors — that keeps you tense for the whole run. This isn't a bright arcade but heavy dark fantasy, where every sortie feels like a desperate push by a handful of survivors. For fans of the setting it's one of the most atmospheric ways to step into the End Times.
