Wallpaper Engine: live wallpapers for your Windows desktop
Wallpaper Engine is an app that turns a dull static desktop into a living, animated scene. Instead of a plain picture you get moving landscapes, anime scenes, neon cities, audio-reactive visualizers and even interactive wallpapers that respond to your cursor. Here at Brawl Games you buy Wallpaper Engine as a full Steam gift β the app lands in your Steam library forever, with no subscriptions and no monthly fees.
What Wallpaper Engine can do
The app is built on its own rendering engine and supports several wallpaper types at once: animated 2D and 3D scenes, video files, web pages, audio visualizers and even standalone applications running right on your desktop background. Many wallpapers react to sound β when music plays, the image pulses and moves in time with it. Multi-monitor setups are supported, so each screen can have its own wallpaper.
- π¬ Animated and video wallpapers in high resolution.
- π΅ Real-time reaction to music and system audio.
- π± Interactive scenes that respond to cursor movement.
- π₯ Multi-monitor support with a different wallpaper on each screen.
- βοΈ Flexible performance settings: pause wallpapers during games and fullscreen apps to keep your system light.
Steam Workshop: millions of ready-made wallpapers
The real strength of Wallpaper Engine is the Steam Workshop. Once activated, you get access to a huge library of wallpapers made by the community: from minimalist abstractions to richly detailed scenes based on favorite games and movies. Subscribe to one you like and it's instantly available in the app. The library grows every day, so there's an endless stream of fresh wallpapers to find.
A built-in wallpaper editor
If ready-made options aren't enough, Wallpaper Engine ships with a full editor. You can bring your own image to life, add particle effects, layers, parallax and audio reactivity. For more advanced logic it uses SceneScript, a simplified take on JavaScript. Finished wallpapers can be published to the Workshop and shared with everyone.
What exactly you get
You receive a Steam gift for the desktop version of Wallpaper Engine for Windows. It's the same app sold directly on Steam, with every feature and full Workshop access. After delivery it's tied to your Steam account forever β this isn't a rental or temporary access. There's a separate Wallpaper Engine app for Android, which is bought separately and isn't part of this gift.
How we deliver the gift
Delivery goes through our Steam bot. You provide a friend invite link and your account region, place the order, and the bot adds itself to your friends and sends the Steam gift. You don't need to accept the friend request β the bot does everything itself and automatically leaves your friends list after delivery. Steam Guard isn't required. Delivery usually takes a couple of minutes from the moment you order.
Activation conditions β important
For Steam to accept the gift, two conditions must be met. First, your Steam account region must match the gift region β otherwise Steam simply won't let you accept it. Second, Wallpaper Engine must not already be in that account's library: Steam won't accept a duplicate. So enter your region carefully and make sure you don't already own the app.
System requirements and platforms
Wallpaper Engine officially runs on Windows. The app is designed to be light on resources: you can cap the frame rate and pause wallpapers during games or heavy applications. On Linux people sometimes launch it via Steam Play (Proton), but that's an unofficial route with no guarantees. There's no separate macOS version.
Who it's for
Wallpaper Engine is for anyone who likes their desktop to feel alive and personal β gamers, streamers, designers and everyone tired of a static picture. If you enjoy tuning the vibe of your PC, take a look at our other Steam gifts too β like the sandbox Terraria or the cozy Stardew Valley: those can be gifted to yourself or a friend through Steam as well.
Quick answers
It's the full app, not a subscription β it stays yours forever. No Steam Guard needed. The gift region and account region must match. The app must not be in your library beforehand. If the bot didn't add you, it's almost always closed friend requests or an expired invite link; enable requests, refresh the link and message us.
