What the game is and why it's so moreish

Vampire Survivors launched into early access on December 17, 2021, with the full 1.0 release arriving on October 20, 2022. The genre is an action roguelite with gothic-horror styling and a casual presentation. Each run lasts up to 30 minutes: you pick a character, drop into a stage and try to survive a steadily growing tide of undead. Every level-up you choose a new weapon or passive item, and the real joy is the evolutions — the right pairing of weapon and passive turns a humble whip or bible into a screen-clearing machine.

The game's strength is the "one more run" loop. In-run upgrades reset, but gold unlocks permanent power-ups, new characters and an absurd number of secrets. Hidden heroes, secret stages, easter eggs, extra modes — Poncle packed it to the brim with surprises.
