The crew is the heart of the UBOAT simulation

The core of UBOAT is people, not just machinery. Every crew member has skills, a personality, and a physical and mental state. You make sure the sailors sleep, eat, don't lose their minds inside a steel box and don't panic under exploding depth charges. You can personally man the periscope, aim the deck gun and work out a firing solution against a convoy — or delegate everything to your officers and watch the war through the eyes of a commander who answers for every call.

Damage, resources and morale on a UBOAT patrol

The damage model in UBOAT is detailed: hull breaches, compartment flooding, fires and repairs by the crew while underway. On a long patrol you count fuel, torpedoes, provisions and air, and you keep morale up too: rest, card games, music on the radio and discipline are survival tools just as much as the depth gauge. Difficulty is flexible — you can run a hardcore simulation with manual torpedo attack calculations, or switch on assists and focus on the story of the patrol. UBOAT plays fair in both modes and never forces a once-and-for-all choice between depth and accessibility.

The Kriegsmarine sandbox and upgrading your boat

UBOAT is built as an open sandbox with assignments from command: you complete combat tasks, earn rewards and resources, upgrade the boat and grow your crew from rookies into a coordinated team. It's a singleplayer game — UBOAT has no online multiplayer, and all the drama plays out between you, your crew and the Atlantic. Every patrol becomes its own story: a quiet departure from base, days of waiting along convoy routes, brief minutes of attack and long hours under depth charges, when the crew goes silent and listens to a destroyer's screws overhead.

Five years of Early Access — why UBOAT came out ready

UBOAT is a rare example of a project that Early Access genuinely improved. From 2019 to 2024 the game steadily gained mechanics: the developers reworked the interface, deepened the crew simulation, added new boat types and equipment, and tuned the balance based on community feedback. By the 1.0 release UBOAT had become one of the most thorough submarine simulators on Steam — so today you're getting a finished game polished by years of feedback from fans of the genre, not a rough early build.

Game or Commercial License — which UBOAT option to pick

The product card has two options. "Game" is the full version of UBOAT, delivered as a Steam gift to your account — for normal play this is the one you want. The Commercial License is a separate right to use UBOAT commercially (public showings, monetized content, venues, training setups); it is not a second copy of the game and only works on top of an already-owned base UBOAT.

UBOAT delivery via the bot: invite link and region

Two Steam conditions the UBOAT gift can't skip

First: your Steam account region must match the region of the variant you bought — you can tell your region by the currency shown in the Steam store. Second: UBOAT must not already be in the account's library — Steam won't apply a gift to a game you already own, and that's the number one reason delivery fails. If Steam rejects the gift over the region or an already-owned copy, the money is returned to your site balance — spend it on the correct variant or anything else. Also check your privacy settings: friend invites must be allowed.

A safe deal: what we never ask for

We never ask for your Steam account password, and Steam Guard isn't needed to receive UBOAT. The whole delivery runs through Steam's standard gifting system — all you provide is the invite link and the correct region.

Refunds on UBOAT — the video recording rule

A refund is only possible with a single continuous video: from the moment of paying for UBOAT to the attempt to accept the gift, with no editing, splices or pauses. All other cases are non-refundable, regardless of the reason.
