Tropico 6: the banana republic of your dreams
Tropico 6 is a city-building and political simulator by Limbic Entertainment, published by Kalypso Media, released on Steam on March 29, 2019. You once again put on the suit of El Presidente β the eternal "father of the nation" of a Caribbean island β and lead your banana republic through four historical eras: colonial, the world wars, the cold war and the modern day. Under your firm hand the island becomes a resort paradise, an industrial giant or a spy haven β it all depends on what kind of dictator you are.
The big new idea of the sixth installment is archipelagos. Your country is no longer a single island but several, connected by bridges, tunnels and taxis. Logistics, housing and placing production across islands all add a fresh puzzle to the classic Tropico formula. You can also steal world landmarks: the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower and other wonders are snatched by your agents and dropped right in the middle of your capital.
Why players love Tropico 6
The Tropico series has always been about satire, and the sixth entry is its most polished incarnation. You balance factions: capitalists want factories, communists want equality, the religious want temples, environmentalists want reserves, the military wants barracks. You can't please everyone, so you negotiate, rig elections, or simply send dissenters "on vacation." Meanwhile you play the world stage: the USA and the USSR (and later other superpowers) want loyalty, grants and favors, and you milk both sides while quietly moving part of the treasury to your personal Swiss account.
- Four eras β from colonies to the present, each with unique buildings and challenges.
- Archipelagos and bridges β manage several islands at once.
- Heist world wonders β send agents to steal famous landmarks.
- Deep politics β factions, elections, balcony speeches, the Swiss account.
- Co-op and multiplayer β up to 4 players on a single map.
What's in the editions
In our catalog Tropico 6 comes in two variants, and both are the full game with the base included:
- Tropico 6 β the standard edition. Full campaign, sandbox mode, multiplayer. Everything you need to start building your dictatorship.
- Tropico 6 β El Prez Edition β the same base plus the El Prez Pack: an exclusive palace design with a flamingo pond, a tourist outfit for El Presidente and La Presidenta, the game's digital soundtrack and a digital calendar. These are cosmetics and nice extras β they don't affect gameplay or the story, but they add flair to your reign.
If it's your first time in the series, either one works β both give the full game. Pick El Prez Edition if you want a bit more palace polish and the soundtrack for your collection.
How the Steam gift works
Tropico 6 here is delivered as a Steam gift, not a key. The flow is simple and safe for your account:
- You provide your Steam friend invite link (from your profile β "Add Friend") and your account region.
- Our bot adds itself as your friend and sends the gift β usually within a couple of minutes. You don't need to accept the friend request by hand.
- You accept the gift in Steam, and Tropico 6 stays in your library for good. After delivery the bot removes itself from your friends.
- Steam Guard is not required β the gift will be accepted without it. Just make sure your profile allows friend requests.
Two must-haves: your Steam account region must match the gift region, and you must not already own the game (Steam won't let you accept a gift for a game you already have). With both conditions met, everything goes smoothly.
System requirements and platforms
Tropico 6 runs on Windows, macOS and Linux β the game officially supports all three PC platforms. It isn't too demanding, so it runs on most modern machines, and it plays comfortably handheld on the Steam Deck. The Steam gift lands on your PC Steam account and downloads like any other game from your library.
