Tribes of Midgard: Vikings vs. Ragnarök — Global Steam Key
Tribes of Midgard is a co-op survival action game by Norsfell and publisher Gearbox Publishing, released on PC on July 27, 2021. You play a Viking hero who, together with your tribe, holds the line around the Seed of Yggdrasil while hordes of dark elves and colossal jötnar close in from every direction. Buying the key from us gets you the full version of the game for Steam, which stays in your library forever.
What the game is and why it hooks you
The gameplay revolves around a relentless day-night cycle. By day you explore a procedurally generated world, chop trees, mine ore, hunt and craft weapons and armor. When night falls things heat up: enemies march on your village and on the Seed of Yggdrasil itself, and you collect the souls of fallen foes to keep its light alive. Fail to prepare and the giants will flatten your base. This blend of Valheim-style survival and tower defense keeps the whole party on edge.
Two modes: Saga and Survival
Saga is the more story-driven mode, with a clear goal and an escalating giant threat — each run is its own multi-evening story. Survival is the open-ended mode without a hard timer, where you build, level up and master the world at your own pace. There's no permadeath, so dying won't throw you back to square one — that makes Tribes of Midgard friendlier to newcomers than many hardcore survival titles.
Classes, runes and co-op for up to 10
- Eight classes — from the tanky Warden to the Ranger and the Sorcerer: each changes your combat style and role in the tribe.
- Runes — collect and combine them to boost weapons and stats around your build.
- Co-op for up to 10 players online — the game truly shines with a crew: someone farms resources, someone holds the gate, someone hunts the giant boss.
Solo play is possible too, but the heart of Tribes of Midgard is team defense — that moment at night when everyone sprints to the village gate with torches and axes.
What this version includes and updates
You're getting the base (Standard) version. Throughout the project's life Norsfell shipped major seasonal updates (Saga seasons) with new content, biomes, bosses and items — all of that is included for free. Separate paid cosmetic packs (Deluxe content) are not part of this key — an honest heads-up so you know you're buying the full game, not a stripped-down one, just without the premium skins.
Norse setting and atmosphere
Tribes of Midgard is steeped in Norse mythology from top to bottom. Yggdrasil, the World Tree, holds up the Nine Realms — and it's its Seed you're guarding. The enemies here aren't faceless mobs: dark elves (svartálfar) creep toward the village once darkness falls, and every few nights a jötunn looms on the horizon — a towering giant the whole tribe drops everything to hunt down. Visually the game leans into a bright, cartoonish low-poly style that sets it apart from grim, realistic survival games: watching the sunset over a fjord while you prep traps for the night raid is a treat in itself.
Progression between runs
Even if a particular Saga run ends with your village falling, you don't walk away empty-handed. Between matches you level up shared skill trees, unlock new recipes, classes and looks, and bank «soul gold» for upgrades in the Village between worlds. So every next attempt starts you a little stronger and with more tactical options — it gives the game a roguelite rhythm where even defeat pushes you forward.
How to activate the key on Steam
It's simple: open Steam, click «Add a game» in the bottom-left corner, choose «Activate a Product on Steam», enter the code you received — and Tribes of Midgard appears in your library. The key is global, so your account region doesn't matter and no VPN is required. Once activated, the game is tied to your account forever and can be re-downloaded on any PC where you sign in to your Steam.
System requirements and platform
This is a key specifically for the Steam version (PC, Windows). The game isn't demanding: thanks to its stylized graphics it runs comfortably on mid-range rigs, and co-op works over the network — gathering a tribe of friends from different cities is no problem. On Steam Deck and Linux it can run through the Proton compatibility layer, but the result depends on the current build, so we don't give a hard guarantee here.
Who it's for
Grab it if you enjoy co-op evenings with friends, you're into crafting survival, and you like Norse aesthetics without over-the-top hardcore. The lack of permadeath and clear goals make Tribes of Midgard a solid entry point into the genre, while seasonal updates and runes give plenty of depth for anyone who wants to stick around.
