FAQ

The Riftbreaker β€” buy a Steam key for base-building, survival and defense on an alien world

The Riftbreaker is a hybrid of base-building, survival and real-time strategy with Action-RPG and tower defense elements from the Polish studio EXOR Studios. It launched on 14 October 2021 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Here you buy a Steam key for PC: after payment a code arrives, you activate it yourself in Steam, and the game is tied to your account for good. We never need access to your profile.

Galatea 37 and the one-way ticket premise

You take on the role of Captain Ashley S. Nowak β€” a scientist and commando in one. Through a one-way portal she reaches Galatea 37, a distant planet at the edge of the galaxy, and her task is to build a base capable of opening a rift back to Earth and paving the way for colonization. There is no way back yet, and all around is aggressive alien life, extreme weather and uncharted biomes. That is the hook that holds you to the finale: you are not just surviving, you are punching a path home.

The Mr. Riggs mech: build, mine, fight

Everything you do happens from a combat mech Ashley calls 'Mr. Riggs'. The suit withstands the planet's harsh conditions and carries a full toolkit: construction, resource extraction, specimen gathering and, of course, combat. As you progress you unlock new weapons and modules, mix elemental damage and builds to fit your style β€” the Action-RPG influence is clear. A well-kitted mech mows down entire waves in a way that is a joy to watch.

Base, resources and lines of defense

The heart of the game is your base. You place power nodes, mines, storage, research stations and wrap it all in walls and turrets. Resources must be not only mined but also defended, and sometimes you run long supply lines across hostile territory. The local fauna regularly comes to test your defenses, and this is where the tower-defense core kicks in: well-placed turrets, minefields and power grids decide whether you hold or rebuild from scratch. The tech tree gradually unlocks heavier structures and weapons, so each base looks more imposing than the last by the finale. Resource logistics and layout are a separate pleasure for those who love to optimize.

Modes and co-op for up to 4

There is content for different moods. The campaign leads you across all biomes of Galatea 37 toward building the rift. Survival mode is pure defense against timed enemy waves, where on higher difficulty the gaps between attacks shrink and enemies grow nastier. Sandbox gives freedom without story pressure. All of it plays solo or in online co-op for up to 4 β€” the missions are balanced for both formats.

Tune the difficulty to yourself

The Riftbreaker is very flexible in its settings. Enemy attack frequency, strength and numbers, resource abundance, weather disasters, enemy damage and dozens of other parameters can be dialed before you start. Want a relaxed base-builder without the nerves β€” lower the aggression. Want a hardcore grinder β€” crank the waves to the max. The game respects builders and challenge-seekers alike. If you enjoy tactical war strategies, take a look at Men of War too β€” a different genre, but the same love of smart defense.

Activating your The Riftbreaker key in Steam

Activation is simple and takes a minute. Launch Steam, at the bottom left click 'Add a game' β†’ 'Activate a Product on Steam', enter the key and confirm. The Riftbreaker appears in your library, and you just wait for the download. It is a standard Steam key β€” activation happens in Steam, no Xbox or third-party launchers.

Where your The Riftbreaker key arrives and how regions work

The code arrives at the email you set for receiving codes and is duplicated in the order on the site, so it is always at hand. The key is global: in our experience it usually activates even in restricted regions, including Crimea β€” but we cannot make a full guarantee for every case, too much depends on Steam and account settings. So at the slightest doubt, record the activation on video per our refund policy.

Key refunds: the video policy

We are honest and upfront about refunds. Keys are goods you cannot 'put back on the shelf' once you have seen them, so any dispute needs a video: one continuous take from the moment of purchase to the attempt to activate in Steam, with no editing, cuts or pauses. If that video exists and shows the problem, we sort it out. No video, or one with cuts, and the key is treated as non-refundable. It is a fair rule, the same for everyone.

DLC and ongoing support

The base game is large on its own, but EXOR Studios did not abandon the project after launch: The Riftbreaker received free updates and two major paid add-ons β€” Metal Terror (July 2022) with a bio-mechanical biome and a story about an ancient alien civilization, and Into the Dark (May 2023), which takes Ashley and Mr. Riggs beneath the planet's surface. Note that this key gives the base version, and the DLC is bought separately. But the foundation they sit on will be official and complete for you.

Who The Riftbreaker is made for and why get it here

The Riftbreaker is for people who love mixing genres: you build like in a city-builder, defend like in tower defense, level up like in an Action-RPG and plan like in an RTS. If you enjoy one session sliding into 'just one more wave', this is your game. Here you get an official Steam key below retail, activate it yourself, with no account access handed over and no mandatory registration on the site. Delivery usually goes through quickly, and disputes are closed via a transparent video policy. Place the order, get the code by email, enter it in Steam β€” and welcome to Galatea 37.
