Tales of Zestiria: a Steam key for the anniversary JRPG about the Shepherd and the Seraphim
Tales of Zestiria is the fifteenth main entry in Bandai Namco's long-running Tales series and its anniversary title, released to celebrate the franchise's 20 years. On PC it launched on Steam in October 2015, and it remains one of the most atmospheric "classic" Japanese role-playing games in the Steam library. Here you buy a global Steam key for the full game: place the order, receive an activation code, and add Tales of Zestiria to your library.
What the game is about
The story takes place in Glenwood, a continent plagued by Hellions β monsters born from human malice, fear and despair. The hero is Sorey, a young man raised among the Seraphim, spirit beings invisible to ordinary people. Sorey becomes the Shepherd β the chosen one able to purify the land and stand against the Lord of Calamity. It's a story about trust between humans and spirits, the price of ideals, and what it means to lead when the world is falling apart.
Combat and the Armatization mechanic
Battles in Tales of Zestiria play out in real time using the series' signature Linear Motion Battle System: fights happen in the same space where you explore, with no transition to a separate arena. The standout feature of this entry is Armatization β Sorey (and later Rose) can fuse with a Seraph partner mid-battle, transforming into an empowered form with its own moveset and element. Fire, water, wind, earth β each Seraph changes how you play, and swapping forms on the fly makes combat both spectacular and tactical.
What's included
- The full base game Tales of Zestiria for Steam (Windows).
- The story episode "Alisha's Story: The Strength of a Knight" β a post-game scenario focused on Alisha. It was once handed out as a separate DLC for a limited time and is now part of the standard edition.
- Dozens of hours of story, side content, character growth, and combat woven into open exploration.
This is a finished, complete release with no open early access: you get the whole game exactly as it exists today.
How to redeem the key
Activation takes a minute. Launch the Steam client, click the "Games" button at the bottom left, choose "Activate a Product on Steam", enter the code you received β and Tales of Zestiria appears in your library. After that you just download and play. No third-party launchers: the game runs directly through Steam.
Region and platform
The key is global β it activates in any region worldwide, no VPN needed, no regional locks. This is the Windows PC version. Running it on Steam Deck and Linux is possible through the Proton compatibility layer, but the game has no official Deck support, so we can't guarantee it runs on those platforms β check community Proton reports.
The Seraphim, your party and progression
Sorey doesn't travel alone: a party gathers around him β both humans and Seraphim, each with their own personality, arc and combat style. Fiery Lailah, breezy Edna, water-aligned Mikleo, earth-bound Zaveid β the Seraphim aren't just companions, they're literally your elements in battle through Armatization. Progression runs on an equipment and item-"fusion" system: you combine gear, unlock skills and build loadouts that fit your playstyle. Beyond the main story, Glenwood is full of side content β dungeons, challenges, mini-activities and the chatty "skits" the series is loved for. It's that warm party banter that makes the world feel alive.
Who it's for
Tales of Zestiria is a great pick if you love story-driven JRPGs with lots of dialogue, a cast of vivid heroes, and fast real-time combat without turn-based pauses. It's the cozy classic side of the Tales series: a bit more straightforward than the later entries, but with strong atmosphere and the franchise's trademark character chemistry. If this world pulls you in, the natural next step is the direct prequel Tales of Berseria (set centuries before Zestiria, darker, led by the charismatic Velvet) or the modern Tales of Arise with reworked combat and visuals. Fans of the classics will also enjoy Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition.
In short
Buy a global Steam key for Tales of Zestiria and you get the full anniversary JRPG with Armatization, the Seraphim, and the story of Shepherd Sorey, plus the built-in Alisha episode. Redeem it in a couple of clicks through Steam, region doesn't matter.
