What State of Decay 2 is
It's an open-world co-op survival game by Undead Labs. By day you head out on runs: searching houses, gas stations and stores for food, medicine, ammo and building materials. Back at base you manage resources — who to heal, what facility to build, who to send on the next mission. Every survivor in your community is a distinct character, and if they die, they're gone for good. That permadeath is what makes every decision genuinely weigh on you.
Cars break down and crash, noise draws a horde, a wounded ally may catch the plague — and then you choose between a cure and a bullet. State of Decay 2 doesn't force a story on you: you write it yourself, through your mistakes and your rescues.
What's in Juggernaut Edition
Juggernaut Edition launched on March 13, 2020 and bundles everything previously released for the game. With this edition you get the full set — no add-ons to buy separately:
- The base State of Decay 2 with all updates and hundreds of improvements.
- Independence Pack — fireworks- and pyrotechnics-themed weapons, vehicles and gear.
- Daybreak Pack — a separate siege mode where you and teammates hold a position against waves of the infected.
- Heartland — a story expansion that returns you to Trumbull Valley with characters from the first game.
- The Providence Ridge map — a forested open world added specifically for Juggernaut Edition.
- Remastered visuals and audio and a reworked Trumbull Valley (the Homecoming update) for the core game.

Co-op for up to four players
State of Decay 2 plays fine solo, but it shines with company. Up to three friends can join your game: explore the map together, haul loot back, fend off hordes and the giant juggernaut mutants the edition is named after. This is the kind of game where a night run with a couple of flashlights and not enough ammo turns into a genuinely tense story.
How you receive it — a Steam gift
