SPORE: from a single cell to a galactic empire
SPORE is a โgod gameโ from Maxis and the legendary Will Wright, creator of The Sims and SimCity. It launched in the autumn of 2008 and still stands apart: few games have tried to fit the entire evolution of life into one playthrough. You start as a tiny cell in the primordial soup, eat whatever is smaller than you, grow, and step by step guide your species through five stages: Cell, Creature, Tribe, Civilization and Space. Here you buy the full game on Steam โ and we send it straight to your account through a bot.
Five stages โ five different games in one
Each stage feels like its own genre. The Cell stage is a 2D survival arcade in the soup. The Creature stage is action-exploration across a planet where you befriend or wipe out your neighbours. The Tribe stage becomes a strategy game about a small settlement, Civilization is a fight for the planet by military, economic or religious means, and Space opens up a whole galaxy of thousands of stars, aliens and terraforming. A single run carries you through the entire story of life โ from microbe to interstellar fleet.
The Creature Creator is the star
The heart of SPORE is its editors. In the Creature Creator you literally sculpt your beast: stretch the spine, add legs, eyes, mouths, claws and wings, and the game instantly figures out how all of it walks, eats and dances. Later come editors for buildings, vehicles and spaceships. What you build shapes your abilities: more mouths and teeth make you better in a fight, more โsocialโ parts make it easier to negotiate. It's that freedom that makes two SPORE playthroughs almost never look alike.
A living universe of other players' creations
SPORE was built from the start around โasynchronous multiplayerโ: creatures, plants, buildings and ships designed by other players are streamed into your universe. So the galaxy is populated not by faceless templates but by hundreds of other people's imaginations โ from adorable critters to outright absurd monsters. You explore worlds packed with others' creativity and add your own to the shared pool.
What exactly the gift includes
This is the base SPORE game โ all five stages and every editor. The Spore: Galactic Adventures expansion, which adds adventure missions on planet surfaces, is not included here โ that's a separate product. So you get the full core game, the one everyone starts SPORE with. If you enjoy games about creating and growing things, take a look at Planet Zoo and its detailed habitat builder, the grand strategy of Civilization V Complete Edition, or the wild Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, where you also assemble your own ridiculous armies.
How we deliver the gift
Delivery goes through Steam Gift. You provide your friend invite link and your account region, place the order, and our bot adds itself to your friends and sends the gift, usually within a couple of minutes. You don't need to accept the friend request, Steam Guard isn't required, and once the gift arrives the bot leaves your friends list on its own. All that's left is to accept the gift in Steam โ and SPORE lands in your library.
What to check before ordering
Two conditions cover almost every possible hiccup. First: your Steam account region must match the region of the gift option you picked. Second: SPORE must not already be in your library โ Steam won't accept a gift for a game you already own, and that's the number-one reason a delivery fails. Also make sure friend invites are allowed in your privacy settings, otherwise the bot can't reach you. Do those three checks and receiving the gift is painless.
Why it's worth trying today
SPORE is one of those games that's easier to try once than to describe. It's often remembered as an โambitious experimentโ: the idea of taking a player through all of evolution was so bold that no single stage ended up as deep as a full standalone strategy game or RPG. But that's exactly where its charm lives โ nowhere else do you go from microbe to spacefaring species in a single evening while sculpting the creature of your dreams along the way. For some it's a beloved childhood sandbox, for others it's an excuse to finally build that one ridiculous beast and send it off to conquer the galaxy. And the Creature Creator is still addictive on its own, even without the rest of the game.
Where to play
SPORE is the native Steam version for Windows and macOS. After you accept the gift it installs and updates through Steam as usual. On Linux and Steam Deck it's typically run through the Proton compatibility layer โ there's no official native build for them, so compatibility decides it. The game is single-player, so a connection is mainly needed to stream other players' creations into your universe.
