SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated โ Steam gift of the full game
Remember that SpongeBob platformer from the PlayStation 2 and GameCube era? Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is its full remake, built by Purple Lamp Studios and published by THQ Nordic on June 23, 2020. The same chaotic Bikini Bottom, the same spatulas and Plankton robots โ but rebuilt from scratch with modern graphics, smooth animation and the little touches fans waited nearly twenty years for. Here you get the full game as a Steam gift: our bot delivers it straight to your Steam.
What the game is and why people still play it
This is a 3D platformer based on the SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon. The plot is simple and goofy: Plankton builds a robot army to finally steal the Krabby Patty secret formula, but the machine goes rogue and the robots start wrecking all of Bikini Bottom. Saving the town falls to the trio โ SpongeBob himself, his pal Patrick, and karate squirrel Sandy. Each has their own moves: SpongeBob bubble-bashes and spins his Bowl-a-Rama attack, Patrick throws objects and freezes, and Sandy glides on her lasso. You run through bright levels โ from the Jellyfish Fields to Sand Mountain โ collecting shiny spatulas, golden spatulas and socks (yes, socks), unlocking new areas and taking down bosses.
What's included in this gift
This is the full digital version of the game for PC (Steam) โ with all the original main levels, restored cut content (such as Sand Mountain and the robot Sandy boss that weren't in the 2003 version), and a separate Horde mode, a wave-defense mode playable in local two-player co-op. No extra purchases: the base game is all here, and no add-ons are needed to finish it. Separately, a free soundtrack DLC was released in December 2020 โ a nice bonus that doesn't affect this purchase.
How Rehydrated differs from the 2003 original
- Fully redrawn graphics and character models.
- Restored content cut from the original (an extra boss and level).
- New Horde co-op mode.
- Updated controls and camera for modern standards.
How the Steam gift is delivered
It's simple. At checkout you provide your Steam friend invite link and your account region. After payment, our bot adds itself to your friends and sends the gift โ usually within a couple of minutes. You don't need to accept the friend request: the bot does everything automatically and removes itself from your friends list once delivery is done. Steam Guard is not required. All that's left is to accept the gift in Steam โ and the game appears in your library.
Important about region and library
Two conditions, without which Steam won't let you accept the gift. First, your Steam account region must match the gift region โ otherwise Steam simply refuses it. Second, the receiving account must not already own this game: Steam won't let you accept a gift for a game you already have (this is the most common cause of issues). With both conditions met, delivery goes smoothly. Also make sure friend requests are allowed in your profile privacy settings, or the bot won't be able to reach you.
What you need to run it
Rehydrated is a light platformer that runs comfortably on modern and even modest PCs. It also works via Steam Deck / Proton if you prefer handheld play. It's a family-friendly, charming and nicely nostalgic game โ great for those who grew up with the original and newcomers who just want a colorful, easygoing platformer for an evening or two.
How much content is in it
The main story takes about 8โ12 hours on average, and collecting every spatula, golden spatula and sock easily pushes that to 15โ20 hours. The game is split into themed Bikini Bottom areas you can freely travel between and revisit for missed secrets. For completionists there's a full 100% run, and the Horde mode adds replay value on top of the campaign. It's the kind of game that's pleasant to take slowly, combing every corner for collectibles.
