What the game is and why it grabs you

The heart of the series is believable engineering. In Space Engineers 2 the developers moved to a unified 25 cm grid: large structures and small parts now live in one coordinate system, so you build far more precisely than in the first game. Rotors and pistons, turrets and weapons, reactors and production modules — these are real mechanical blocks that obey physics rather than a script. Break a support and the ship tilts. Misjudge your thrust and you won't lift off.

The core loop is exploration, mining, crafting and building. You scout the planets of the Almagest System, gather resources, manufacture components, manage survival systems (power, oxygen, hydrogen), take contracts, trade, and find datapads that unfold the story of the world. It's a meditative, engineering-driven experience for players who love creating rather than racing a clock.

Early Access: the honest version

Space Engineers 2 launched into Steam Early Access on January 27, 2025. Keen Software House openly state the game will stay in Early Access through roughly 2027, gradually gaining content — and rising in price along the way. In plain terms, here's what that means for you:

• It's a fully playable build of the base game, not a closed invite-only beta.
• You own the game forever and get all future base-game updates at no extra cost.
• At this stage the main mode is single-player; co-op and multiplayer are on the roadmap and will arrive with updates.
• Content is still being added — if you want everything at once, you might prefer a later build. But the entry ticket is cheaper now than it will be closer to release.

What's included in the gift

You get the Space Engineers 2 base game — full access to the Almagest System sandbox: building, survival, mining, contracts, exploration. How the gift is delivered

• The game must not already be in the library. A gift can't be accepted for a game the account already owns — this is the single most common failure. Send it to an account that doesn't have Space Engineers 2 yet.

Also make sure friend requests are allowed in your profile privacy settings — otherwise the bot can't reach you.

What you can play it on

Space Engineers 2 is a PC game (Windows) on Steam. There's no native console version for the sequel at this Early Access stage — it's an engineering sandbox built around mouse and keyboard. Steam Deck / Linux support isn't stated as a priority during Early Access, so plan for a proper PC with a dedicated graphics card.
