Risk of Rain 2 — a Steam Gift for the cult co-op roguelike
Risk of Rain 2 is a third-person roguelike shooter where you survive on a hostile planet, stack up items and try to last as long as possible while the difficulty climbs relentlessly with the in-game timer. It was made by Hopoo Games and published by Gearbox Publishing. The full release landed on August 11, 2020, after nearly a year and a half in Early Access (since March 28, 2019), during which it built a huge and devoted community. What the game is and why people get hooked
The formula of Risk of Rain 2 looks deceptively simple: you spawn on a level, clear enemies, find the teleporter, charge it and move on to the next, tougher stage. But there's a catch that keeps every run tense — time. The longer you stay on a map, the higher the difficulty climbs, from "Easy" all the way to "HAHAHAHA". So the game constantly forces a choice: farm more items and risk it, or rush the boss and push forward.
The real magic is in the items. There are hundreds of them, and they stack. Grab three of the same ammo pickup and you fire in bursts; pile up a stack of spiked grenades and a single shot wipes half the screen. By the end of a good run your character becomes a walking disaster that melts bosses in seconds. That power escalation is exactly what makes you start "just one more run" at 3 a.m.
Solo and co-op for up to 4 players
Risk of Rain 2 is great both solo and with friends. Online co-op supports up to four players, and the on-screen chaos scales with you: more players means more enemies, more items and more absurd build combinations. A lot of people pick it up specifically for co-op runs — it's one of those titles where "one more round" easily turns into a whole evening. The expansions Survivors of the Void and Seekers of the Storm are separate DLC and are not included here (they require the base game — which is exactly what you get with this product). The expansions: Survivors of the Void and Seekers of the Storm
For the full picture: the game has two major paid expansions. Survivors of the Void launched on March 1, 2022, adding new survivors (including Void characters), enemies, items and a final zone. The second one, Seekers of the Storm, released on August 27, 2024, bringing even more content, new characters and music. Both DLC require the base game — the very version you're buying in this listing. The expansions themselves are not included here; grab them separately if you want more content.
How we deliver the game (Steam Gift)

Risk of Rain 2 runs great on PC and is well-behaved on Steam Deck — it has clean controls and maps nicely to a gamepad. As a Steam version, it launches through the Steam client on Windows; on Steam Deck and Linux many players run it via Proton. Once you accept the gift, the game simply appears in your library like any other Steam purchase.
