Planet Zoo: keys for DLC packs and animal packs

Planet Zoo is the zoo-building simulator by Frontier Developments, the studio behind Planet Coaster and Jurassic World Evolution. It launched on 5 November 2019 and keeps growing through regular add-ons: dozens of new species, scenery sets and scenarios arrive as "packs". This section sells Steam keys for Planet Zoo DLC — animal packs and themed packs. These are global keys: they activate worldwide with no regional restrictions.

🔴 One thing up front: everything here is DLC, not the game itself. For any pack to work, you must already own the base Planet Zoo on your account. A pack key won't launch the game on its own — it simply adds animals and scenery to your existing copy.

Themed pack vs animal pack

Planet Zoo add-ons come in two flavours, and we split them into separate tabs so nothing gets confusing.

  • Themed Packs are the "big" add-ons: new animals plus a full set of region- or theme-based scenery and a dedicated career scenario. These are Arctic, Aquatic, South America, Africa, Australia, Twilight, Tropical, Conservation and Oceania.
  • Animal Packs focus on the creatures: 5–8 new species and a little supporting scenery, without a full scenario. These are Southeast Asia, Europe, Grasslands, Zookeepers, Barnyard, North America, Arid, Wetlands, Americas and Asia.

If you just want fresh species for an existing zoo, grab the animal packs. If you also want a new building theme plus a story challenge, look at the themed packs.

What the popular packs include

A few reference points to help you choose:

  • Arctic Pack — the game's very first DLC (December 2019): Arctic wolf, Dall sheep, reindeer and an icy theme.
  • Aquatic Pack — grey seal, king penguin, American alligator and aquatic scenery for waterside habitats.
  • Africa Pack — meerkats, okapi, fennec fox, Nile crocodile and one of the richest scenery sets in the game.
  • Conservation Pack — a conservation theme: rarer species and eco-centre pieces with a focus on protecting wildlife.
  • Zookeepers Animal Pack — Pallas's cat, spectacled bear, markhor plus new keeper features.

The exact line-up of each pack is written right next to the item — hover over the one you want to read which animals it includes and when it launched.

How to activate a Planet Zoo key on Steam

It's the standard Steam-key flow. After payment you receive an activation code. Then:

  • Open the Steam client and sign in to the account that has Planet Zoo installed.
  • Bottom-left, click "Games" → "Activate a Product on Steam".
  • Enter the key you received and confirm.
  • The add-on attaches to your account and its content appears in Planet Zoo automatically — the download usually pulls in on the next launch.

The keys are global, so your Steam account region doesn't matter — activate from anywhere. No VPN needed.

How many packs to buy and in what order

There's no wrong answer — Planet Zoo never forces you to buy add-ons in sequence or as a bundle. Each pack is standalone and adds its content independently of the rest. Take a single set with your favourite animals, or collect a whole continent. The rule of thumb: look at the species and themes you need for your current projects and buy selectively.

Why new animals matter

Planet Zoo rests on three pillars: believable animal behaviour, deep welfare management and creative building. A new species isn't just a model — each animal has its own needs for habitat size, climate, social group and enrichment. So adding a pack genuinely changes how you play: you rebuild habitats, run breeding programmes and think about genetics. Themed packs also hand you whole libraries of scenery to assemble recognisable exhibits — an African savanna, an icy Arctic outpost or a nocturnal zoo from the Twilight Pack. That's especially loved by players who build "franchise" zoos and share them on the Steam Workshop.

Platform and compatibility

These keys are for the PC version of Planet Zoo on Steam. They won't work with Planet Zoo: Console Edition — consoles have their own purchase ecosystem. The game and its DLC run great through Proton on Steam Deck and Linux, so you can expand your animal roster there too.
