Plague Inc: Evolved — engineer the perfect plague and wipe out humanity
Plague Inc: Evolved is a strategy-sim by UK studio Ndemic Creations where you play as the pathogen. The goal is grim and weirdly addictive: infect and kill the entire human population before the world's scientists finish a cure. It's the reworked PC version of the cult mobile game Plague Inc, with upgraded graphics up to 4K, multiplayer, detailed statistics and a scenario editor. How the game works
You start with patient zero in a single country and gradually evolve your disease: adding transmission routes (air, water, insects, animals), symptoms and resistance to climate and medicine. Every DNA point is a choice — make the disease more infectious, more stealthy or more lethal. The world reacts in real time: borders, airports and ports close, countries pour money into a vaccine, and live news comments on your pandemic. You win when the last human on Earth dies and the cure was never finished.
Pathogen types and modes
The game has several disease classes, each changing how a run plays out:
- Bacteria — a versatile starting point, great for learning the mechanics.
- Virus — mutates fast and chaotically, harder to keep under control.
- Fungus — spreads slowly across the world and relies on spore bursts.
- Prion — sneaky and slow, built around stealth and complex symptoms.

Beyond the classic campaign there's a Versus mode where two players grow competing plagues, a co-op mode, dozens of scenarios, and an editor with Steam Workshop support so you can play and build your own scenarios and pathogens.

This is the full game, not an add-on: all base plague types, modes, scenarios and the editor. Series expansions (such as "The Cure", which flips the gameplay so you stop a pandemic instead of spreading one) are separate products that actually need Plague Inc: Evolved as their base. Versus and co-op modes add a living competitive layer on top of the single-player campaign, so the game doesn't end at "finished it and uninstalled."
