FAQ

Buy Pillars of Eternity — a Steam gift for players who want a real RPG

If you miss the days when an RPG meant hours of dialogue, deep character builds, and party tactics instead of a checklist of map markers, here's a solid reason to come back. Below is what the game is about, how buying Pillars of Eternity as a Steam gift works, and what to check before you pay so you don't lose time or money over something as small as an account region.

What Pillars of Eternity actually is

Pillars of Eternity is an isometric RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment and released in 2015 with Paradox Interactive as publisher. It grew out of a 2012 Kickstarter campaign that was, at the time, one of the platform's biggest gaming fundraisers, and it was built from day one as a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment. The developers leaned hard into that 90s classic feel: a fixed isometric camera, hand-painted backdrops, dense text, and a story that doesn't hold your hand. If you'd rather read dialogue and shape a character than chase arcade action, this is your genre.

The world of Eora and the Hollowborn crisis

The story takes place in Dyrwood, a nation within the fantasy world of Eora, where souls aren't a metaphor but a physical resource — they can be moved, studied, and used as the basis of magic. You play as a Watcher, a person who gains the ability to see other people's souls and past lives after a catastrophic event, reading the memories of the dead and catching echoes of events long past. The plot kicks off with the "Hollowborn crisis": infants in Dyrwood begin being born without souls, and it's up to you to figure out why and how to stop it, while untangling several factions that each see the nature of souls very differently.

Tactical real-time-with-pause combat

Combat runs on an RTwP system — you build a party of up to six, including your own character, drawing from eleven classes like fighter, wizard, priest, monk, rogue, or chanter, and you can pause the action at any moment to issue orders: casting spells, repositioning, mixing classes against a specific threat. There's no need for split-second reflexes; you can take your time to plan every move when a fight goes sideways, and adjust tactics mid-encounter without being punished for it.

Editions explained: Hero, Royal, Definitive

Pillars of Eternity shipped in several editions, and the difference between them is worth knowing. The Hero Edition is just the base game plus a digital manual, no extras attached. The Royal Edition adds the original soundtrack, an art book, and Chris Avellone's novella "The House of Wael" covering some characters' backstory — sold either standalone or as an upgrade. The Definitive Edition, released later, bundles all of that bonus content together with the large The White March Part I and Part II story expansions — new areas, quests, and a solid chunk of extra playtime. Check the product page before buying to confirm exactly what's bundled in a given lot, so there are no surprises after activation.

How buying a Steam gift works here

The flow is simple: place your order on the site, then add our bot through the invite link to your Steam friends (Steam → Friends → Add Friend → invite by link). The bot adds you as a friend and sends over the Pillars of Eternity gift, which you accept in the client or via notification. No extra accounts or services needed — everything runs through your existing Steam profile, no third-party launchers involved.

Lot regions and pricing — what to check first

Steam ties both pricing and gifting to an account's region, which is why we sell Pillars of Eternity as separate regional lots. You can tell your own region by the currency your Steam store prices show in, rather than guessing from your country of registration or interface language — pick the matching lot. If it doesn't match, Steam will decline the gift, and we refund the amount to your site balance so you can reorder for the right region without losing time. Promo codes for Pillars of Eternity are applied right at checkout if you have one, no need to enter them again afterward.

If you already own the game

One more thing worth knowing upfront: if Pillars of Eternity is already in your Steam library, whether bought or gifted earlier, a new gift can't be accepted — Steam simply won't let a game be duplicated in a library, and that's a platform limitation, not something the seller controls. That case is also resolved with a refund to your site balance, which you can put toward a different lot or a different game right away.

Pillars of Eternity without sharing any logins

Steam Guard isn't required to receive the gift, and we never ask for your Steam account password — only the friend invite link. Delivery happens soon after payment, without promising an exact number of minutes, since it depends on the queue and the specific lot.

Returns if something goes wrong

If the Pillars of Eternity gift fails to activate, a refund is only possible with a single continuous, unedited video recording — from the moment of payment through the activation attempt. Full return terms, along with other region and ownership edge cases, are covered in the FAQ section below.

Why buy Pillars of Eternity from Brawl Games

We've been operating since 2023 and accept payment via Russian bank cards, SBP, or crypto, so paying for Pillars of Eternity doesn't require juggling foreign payment services. What you get is the full version of the game with nothing stripped out, and promo codes for Pillars of Eternity and other titles apply right at checkout.

Where to head after Eora

Looking for what to play after Pillars of Eternity? Baldur's Gate 3 is the flagship story-driven RPG built on D&D rules, complete with co-op, for anyone who wanted more scale out of an isometric adventure. Men of War is a tactical military strategy game if you want to trade spellcasting and dialogue for real-time troop command. Steam Gift Card is a universal balance top-up for later, if you haven't decided what to play next.
