Phasmophobia on Steam: co-op ghost hunting
Phasmophobia is a co-op psychological horror by the British studio Kinetic Games, launched into Steam Early Access on September 18, 2020. Within weeks it went from a niche indie to one of the defining streaming hits of the decade: a team of one to four ghost hunters enters a house, school, prison or abandoned asylum where something paranormal has settled in, and must gather evidence, identify the ghost type, and get out alive. Here you buy the full game as a Steam gift โ our bot delivers it straight to your friends list.
What makes Phasmophobia so scary
The game's signature feature is voice recognition. Your microphone actually listens: the ghost reacts to your words, to its own name spoken aloud at the spirit board, to the panic in your voice. The longer you drag out the investigation, the more your sanity drops, and the higher the chance a hunt begins โ the phase where the entity materialises and comes to kill. The lights die, radios crackle, and you hide in a closet holding the push-to-talk button so a stray scream doesn't give you away. Phasmophobia doesn't lean on cheap timed jump scares โ it builds dread through silence and unpredictability.
How the gameplay works
Every contract is a small detective case. You carry a toolkit: an EMF reader, a spirit box, a thermometer, a UV light for fingerprints, video cameras with night vision, a motion sensor, and a ghost-writing book. Your goal is to find three pieces of evidence and deduce who you're dealing with: a Spirit, Poltergeist, Demon, Banshee, Mimic, or one of dozens of other types. Each ghost has its own behaviour, strengths, weaknesses and favourite ways to hunt. A correct identification pays out money and experience; a wrong guess means empty hands โ or the whole team dead.
- Co-op up to 4 players โ you can play solo, but the real terror (and fun) kicks in with friends on voice chat.
- VR support โ Phasmophobia was built with virtual reality in mind from the start, and in a headset it becomes one of the most intense horror experiences out there.
- Dozens of locations and ghost types โ from tiny houses to sprawling maps like the prison and the campus, with content added regularly.
- Progression and gear โ successful contracts level you up, let you buy and upgrade equipment and unlock harder difficulties.
What's included in the gift
You receive the full Phasmophobia in its current state โ at the time of purchase that's Steam Early Access, which has been packed with content for years and still gets regular updates. Kinetic Games is targeting the big 1.0 update for the second half of 2027, but the game is already a complete, content-rich experience you can play right now: everyone who owns it in Early Access automatically gets the final release at no extra cost. This is a purchase you own on your Steam account โ not a rental, not a subscription.
How we deliver the gift
Phasmophobia is sent as a Steam Gift through our bot. You provide your Steam friend-invite link and your account region โ then the bot does the rest: it adds itself to your friends, sends the gift (usually within a couple of minutes) and automatically leaves your friends list after delivery. You don't need to accept the friend request manually, and Steam Guard isn't required either. All that's left for you is to click "Accept Gift" in Steam โ and the game lands in your library.
Important note about region
The key condition for a gift is that your Steam account region must match the gift region, otherwise Steam refuses to accept it. And the account you order the gift for must not already own Phasmophobia: a gift can't be accepted onto a game you already have. So before ordering, check that the game is missing from the library and that friend requests are enabled in your profile settings.
If you love co-op horror
Phasmophobia sits alongside our other co-op horrors made for a group of friends. If the "scary together" formula clicks for you, check out Lethal Company โ a grim co-op about scavenging scrap on infested moons, and DEVOUR โ a fast-paced horror escape about banishing possessed cultists. Fans of asymmetric hide-and-seek with a killer will enjoy Dead by Daylight.
