Oxygen Not Included as a Steam gift

About the game

Oxygen Not Included is Klei's space-colony sim: you dig out an asteroid base and juggle gases, heat, water and food so your duplicants don't suffocate or cook. Hundreds of hours of planning and engineering. You buy it and get the game in your own Steam as a gift.

Once the gift is delivered it cannot be refunded. If Steam rejects the gift due to region mismatch, the full amount is returned to your site balance.
Available items are processed automatically. Any issues will be resolved starting from 9:00 MSK.

Your Steam account region must match the gift region, and Oxygen Not Included must not already be in your library. Pick the option for your region.

FAQ

Oxygen Not Included: a space colony that breathes exactly as well as you let it

Oxygen Not Included is a space-colony management sim from Canadian studio Klei Entertainment, the team behind the brutal survival of Don't Starve. You run a handful of duplicants β€” goofy clone workers β€” inside an asteroid and are literally responsible for every breath they take. Oxygen doesn't appear on its own: you have to produce it, cool it, pipe it around the base and keep carbon dioxide from pooling. There are no club-wielding monsters here β€” your real enemy is thermodynamics, and it doesn't forgive laziness.

The game left Early Access on July 30, 2019 (it had been in Early Access since February 2017) and has since grown into one of the deepest colony sims on Steam. When you buy from us, you get the full Steam version of the game as a gift, dropped straight into your library β€” the exact same copy as a normal store purchase.

Why ONI eats hundreds of hours

The trick is that Oxygen Not Included isn't about "stockpile resources and win" β€” it's an endless engineering puzzle you keep making harder for yourself. First you're happy your duplicants didn't suffocate. Then you build electrolyzers to split oxygen from water. Then you realize the whole base is overheating and you go to war with heat: liquid cooling, heat exchangers, insulated abyssalite walls. After that come farms, closed water loops, waste recycling, rockets and a trip to space.

  • 🌑️ Heat and gases are simulated for real. Every tile has a temperature, every gas has mass and behavior. Hot air rises, COβ‚‚ sinks β€” and that reshapes how you lay out the base.
  • πŸ§‘β€πŸš€ Duplicants are living problems. Each has skills, stress, illnesses, quirks and neuroses. One loves digging, another throws a fit next to a dirty outhouse.
  • ♻️ Closed systems. Water β†’ oxygen β†’ carbon dioxide β†’ back into the cycle. The joy of ONI is a colony that feeds and cools itself.
  • πŸš€ Space and progression. From your first bedroom to interplanetary rockets and terraforming, the curve stretches across dozens of hours.

What's in the base game

The "Game" item is the full base version of Oxygen Not Included with no add-ons. It already contains the whole foundation: the classic single-asteroid map, the full set of systems (oxygen, power, plumbing, food, medicine, research), dozens of buildings, creatures, resources and a sandbox mode. That's more than enough to sink in for a long time β€” most players start exactly here, with the base game.

On top of that, Klei has released expansions over the years: the big paid Spaced Out! add-on with radiation, uranium and a multi-asteroid system, plus a series of planet packs (Frosty Planet, Bionic Booster, Prehistoric Planet and more). You can buy those separately later β€” but they require the base game, and you don't need to start with them.

The Commercial License β€” who actually needs it

The separate "Commercial License" item is not a second copy of the game and not a content DLC. It's a special license from Klei that allows using Oxygen Not Included for commercial purposes: for example in venues, on business devices, in organizations. The standard ONI license only grants personal, non-commercial use. If you just play at home for fun, you don't need it β€” grab only the base game. The Commercial License requires the base game to already be owned.

How you receive the game: a Steam gift via bot

We deliver Oxygen Not Included as a Steam Gift β€” an official gift inside Steam. You only provide two things: your Steam profile's friend invite link and your account region. Our bot then adds itself as your friend, sends the gift, and leaves your friends list after delivery. You don't need to accept the request manually, and Steam Guard isn't required either. The whole thing usually takes a couple of minutes after payment.

There are two conditions Steam physically enforces for any gift: your account region must match the region of the chosen item, and the game must not already be in that account's library (you can't gift a game an account already owns). So pick the item for your region and order it for an account that doesn't have this game yet.

If you love ONI, check these out too

Oxygen Not Included sits at the heart of Klei's larger universe, alongside their other hits. If the survival-and-management loop clicks with you, look at the cult co-op survival of Don't Starve Together and its single-player ancestor Don't Starve β€” the same signature Klei style and merciless but fair difficulty. And if it's the colony-sim itch specifically, the hardcore RimWorld and its stories of survivors at the edge of space will hit the spot.

The purchase in short

You grab Oxygen Not Included β†’ provide your invite link and region β†’ pay β†’ the bot sends the gift in Steam, usually within a couple of minutes β†’ you accept, and the game is yours forever, just like a Steam store purchase. After that, the only thing left is explaining to your duplicants why the oxygen is running out again.
