My Summer Car β build your Satsuma and survive a Finnish summer
My Summer Car is a Finnish survival-sim about a guy, a car and one very long summer in 1990s rural Finland. You start with a rusty "Satsuma" sedan (think old Datsun) sitting in your garage as a pile of parts β and everything after that is on you: torque every bolt, set the ignition timing, fill the oil and fuel, remember to eat, sleep, use the toilet and not wrap yourself around a tree on a gravel road. This isn't an arcade racer; it's a stubborn, brutally honest simulator where death is permanent and the only way to save is by sitting on the toilet at home. Here you're buying a Steam gift for the full game β we deliver it straight to your library through a bot.
What this game actually is
It's made by the tiny Finnish studio Amistech Games β essentially Johannes Rojola and family. The game hit Early Access on October 24, 2016 and stayed there for over eight years until its full 1.0 release on January 8, 2025. In that time it became a cult classic precisely because of its obsessive detail: the engine is assembled from real components, and the car models wear, overheating, knock and dozens of little things that just "happen automatically" in other games.
The setting is 1990s rural Finland: gravel roads, pine forests, a remote shop, a bar where you can have one too many, and a neighbour who always needs a lift. You earn money hauling sewage with a septic truck, running local jobs and selling at the market β then spend it fixing, tuning and fuelling your Satsuma.
Why My Summer Car grabs you
- Build the car from scratch. Hundreds of parts, every bolt tightened individually β get the torque or order wrong and the engine misfires or falls apart on the road.
- Survival, Finnish style. Hunger, thirst, fatigue, bladder and hangovers genuinely affect your character. Skip sleep and food and you simply drop dead.
- Permadeath. Crash drunk on the highway or freeze in the woods and that's the end of the run. A tension no casual racer offers.
- Dark humour and atmosphere. Home-brewed kilju, the sauna, dirt-road mischief and that signature Finnish absurdity give the game a vibe people adore.
What's in the gift
This is the full version of My Summer Car (1.0 release) β the complete base game: the Satsuma, the truck, the open Finnish backcountry, jobs, economy, survival and the whole gameplay loop. The game has no separate paid DLC, so buying the base game gives you the entire experience with nothing locked behind extra purchases. All future free updates from Amistech land in your library automatically.
How we deliver the gift
You receive the game as a Steam Gift. Share your Steam profile's friend invite link and tell us your account region β our bot handles the rest: it adds itself, sends the gift and leaves your friends list after delivery. You don't need to accept anything manually, and Steam Guard isn't required. The whole thing usually takes a couple of minutes after checkout. One key condition: your Steam account region must match the gift region, and you must not already own the game β otherwise Steam won't let you accept the gift.
Will it run on your PC and Steam Deck
My Summer Car is a lightweight Unity game that runs comfortably on modest hardware and feels right at home on Steam Deck. Controls are built around keyboard and mouse, a gamepad is supported, but many players recommend a wheel and pedals for full immersion in driving the Satsuma.
