MOUSE: P.I. For Hire β a noir fast-FPS in 1930s cartoon style, now as a Steam gift
MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is a wild first-person shooter that looks like a living black-and-white rubber-hose cartoon from the 1930s but plays like a modern, fast-paced action game. You grab a revolver as private eye Jack Pepper (voiced by Troy Baker) and untangle a missing-persons case that drags you into the criminal underbelly of Mouseburg. Here you buy the game as a Steam gift: after checkout the bot sends the gift straight to your Steam account and MOUSE lands in your library as owned. Below: what the game is, which editions exist, and how gift delivery works.
What this game is
It's developed by Fumi Games and published by PlaySide, and it launched on April 16, 2026. MOUSE runs on a sharp contrast: the visuals are hand-drawn in the spirit of old Disney and Fleischer shorts β wobbling lines, ink blots, a deliberately filmic look β while underneath hides a mean, dynamic fast-FPS with a jazzy soundtrack. This is not a cozy game about a cartoon mouse; it's a noir about corruption, kidnapping and murder, where satire of animation's golden age sits next to brutal gunfights.
Mouseburg and detective Jack Pepper
The story unfolds in the fictional city of Mouseburg, populated by anthropomorphic animals. The hero is Jack Pepper, a former soldier turned private eye. A seemingly simple disappearance quickly unravels into a web of bribes, blackmail and bodies. The mood rides on a jazzy soundtrack, black-and-white art and dark humor β a detective tale told in the language of an action game, not a slow-paced quest.
How it plays: speed, weapons and tricks
Constant movement is the core. Standing still is deadly: MOUSE rewards an aggressive pace, dashes and acrobatics.
- More than ten unique cartoon-styled guns, from a revolver to an absurd heavy arsenal.
- Parkour traversal: wall-running and a grappling hook to swing across arenas.
- Power-ups and pickups that change the flow of a firefight.
- Over 20 levels with exploration, secrets and dense arena combat.
If you love old-school fast shooters but want a fresh, unlike-anything wrapper, MOUSE is exactly that.
Which editions are on Steam
Several digital Steam options are available β pick what suits you:
- Standard β the base game MOUSE: P.I. For Hire: the full campaign and all the core gameplay.
- Digital Deluxe Edition β the base game plus a bundle of extras (breakdown below).
- Digital Deluxe Upgrade β an upgrade to the deluxe set for players who already own Standard.
What's inside the Digital Deluxe Edition
The Digital Deluxe Edition is the full game plus a bundle of extras on top:
- the complete base game MOUSE: P.I. For Hire;
- access to the first major story DLC β it unlocks on your account and becomes playable once it releases;
- the original soundtrack by composer Patryk Scelina featuring electro-swing band Caravan Palace;
- a digital comic book set in the game's universe.
Want the game, the music and the story expansion all at once? Grab Deluxe as a single bundle instead of piecing it together.
How the Digital Deluxe Upgrade differs
The Digital Deluxe Upgrade is not a separate copy of the game β it's an upgrade pack: comic, soundtrack and story DLC. It only makes sense if the base MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is already installed on your account. If you don't own the base yet, don't buy the Upgrade on its own β get the Digital Deluxe Edition instead; it's simpler and avoids confusion. In short, the Upgrade is a way to add deluxe content for players who already own Standard.
How we deliver the game: Steam gift
We deliver MOUSE via Steam Gift, handled by our supplier's bot, and there's nothing to untangle here β the flow is transparent. You provide your Steam profile's friend-invite link and your account region, then:
- the bot adds itself to your friends via the link β no manual approval of the request;
- it sends the MOUSE: P.I. For Hire gift, you hit Accept in the client, and the game settles into your library;
- after delivery the bot leaves your friends list on its own.
There's no key to enter: this is a gift, not an activation code. Steam Guard isn't required to receive it. We don't promise a specific delivery time, but it usually goes through without delay. Registering on our site isn't mandatory, payment is available from Russia and the CIS, and you can always ask questions in the site chat.
Region and key conditions
The gift ships to a wide list of regions, but there are two conditions Steam enforces before it lets you accept a gift:
- Your Steam account region must match the gift's region β so enter your real country at checkout.
- The game must not already be in that account's library: Steam won't let you receive a MOUSE you already own. For the Digital Deluxe Upgrade it's the opposite β the base game must already be on the account.
Your profile settings must also allow friend requests, or the bot can't reach you. If you accidentally grab the wrong region and the gift isn't accepted, the order value returns to your Brawl Games balance β use it to reorder or pick another game.
Reviews and who it's for
MOUSE: P.I. For Hire landed to a warm reception: it's praised for its bold visual style, fast gunplay and atmosphere, and it's selling well. It's an ideal pick if you love retro fast-FPS, hand-drawn 1930s aesthetics and dark noir humor over jazz. Approach it as a dynamic ride about movement and shooting with an unusual delivery, and you'll get exactly what you came for.
After a shift in Mouseburg
If after the fast shootouts of MOUSE you want something more deliberate but still with guns and tactics, check out Men of War β a real-time war strategy where positioning and cold calculation rule instead of dashes and parkour. And to avoid committing to one title, you can simply top up your Steam wallet with a gift card and buy whatever you like in the store yourself β from MOUSE deluxe content to your next evening's game. Both pair well with grabbing MOUSE: P.I. For Hire as a Steam gift.
