What makes every playthrough unique

The heart of Left 4 Dead is the AI Director. It dynamically changes where the Infected spawn, how many there are, where health kits and ammo sit, and when the music swells before a wave. Four campaigns and the Special Infected

The base game includes four campaigns: No Mercy (a rooftop-and-subway escape to a hospital helicopter), Death Toll (a trek through forest and river to a boat), Dead Air (a push to the airport and a plane) and Blood Harvest (a run across farmland to a military outpost). Valve later added The Sacrifice, a campaign that reveals the fate of one of the Survivors.

The endless horde isn't the only threat. The Special Infected each have a role: the Hunter pounces and pins you, the Smoker drags you off with its tongue, the Boomer vomits and lures the horde, the Tank is a wall-smashing brute, and the Witch is best left undisturbed. A team that doesn't watch each other's backs falls apart at the first Special.

Co-op, Versus and Survival

Left 4 Dead is built for four. In co-op you clear a campaign together against AI-controlled Infected. In Versus, two teams take turns as Survivors and as Special Infected — and that's where the real mind game begins: you decide where to ambush as a Hunter or where to charge as a Tank. Survival mode is a test of endurance: hold a single spot for as long as you can against an escalating onslaught.

How the gift is delivered

Delivery is via Steam Gift. You provide your Steam friend invite link and your account region.
