Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era β a new chapter of the legendary Heroes
The Might and Magic series has been a benchmark for turn-based strategy for decades, and Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era carries it forward. The game is made by studio Unfrozen and published by Hooded Horse and Ubisoft. It's a prequel story: events unfold on the continent of Jadame on the planet Enroth, before the classic Β«A Strategic QuestΒ». You build towns, recruit armies, develop heroes and lead them across the map β the same Β«just one more turnΒ» magic that quietly turns night into morning.
Here you buy a Steam activation key for the CIS region. After payment the game lands straight in your Steam library β no third-party launchers or subscriptions.
What kind of game it is
Olden Era is a turn-based strategy with RPG-style hero progression and tactical battles on a separate field. The world map is about exploration, resources and seizing mines and towns; combat is about positioning your stacks, casting spells and trading wisely. The campaign is non-linear: you pick missions, and some of them are mutually exclusive β your choices reshape the map of Jadame, the balance of power between factions and the fates of individual heroes.
The setup: scattered factions are forced into fragile alliances against the Hive β a swarm of insectoids corrupted by a demon lord known as the Dragonfly King, bent on subjugating the world.
Six factions and their armies
There are six playable factions, and each one feels distinct:
- Temple β knights and forces of order, leaning on discipline and support.
- Grove β fey folk and spirits of nature, built around elements and mobility.
- Dungeon β dark elves and subterranean dwellers with dragons.
- Necropolis β vampires and undead, an army that grows after every battle.
- Hive β demon-corrupted insectoids, the new threat to this world.
- The sixth faction β revealed separately, adding its own playstyle.
Each faction has seven creature types, and almost every one can be upgraded down one of two branches β that's dozens of army variations plus neutral creatures on the map. Building your own combination of stacks and heroes is half the fun.
Modes and replayability
Beyond the campaign there's multiplayer for up to eight players, a dedicated arena mode for quick clashes, and a random map generator. Random maps are essentially an endless supply of fresh games: different terrain, different starting conditions, different pacing. If you love Heroes precisely because every game plays out differently, there's plenty of that here.
What the edition includes
The catalog offers the base game Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era β the full Steam version. It's not a DLC or an upgrade: you don't need any previously purchased game, the key unlocks the whole title. There are no separate collector's or Deluxe editions with exclusive content for this item β you're getting the base game itself.
Early Access: honest about the status
Olden Era launched into Early Access on April 30, 2026. That means the game is already fully playable but keeps evolving: the developers add content and tune balance and factions on the way to a full release planned roughly a year after the Early Access start. By buying now you get access to all future updates of this version and can shape the game with feedback alongside the community. If you prefer only finished releases, it's worth keeping in mind.
Key region
The key is intended for the CIS region and activates on Steam accounts from CIS countries (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and neighbors). If your account is registered in a different region, Steam may not accept the key β that's a standard regional restriction, not a quirk of our store. Make sure your account region fits before buying.
How to activate the key in Steam
It takes a couple of steps: launch the Steam client, open the Β«GamesΒ» menu, choose Β«Activate a Product on SteamΒ», enter the key and confirm. The game is added to your library, ready to download and run. The code is delivered as text β no details of your account are required from you.
