There is no paywall on the gameplay — the whole key arsenal is earned by playing. Difficulty scales through operation levels: want a relaxed run, pick a lower one; craving hardcore waves of elite enemies, raise the bar and reap bigger rewards for the risk.

Co-op for up to four

The core of the game is a joint squad drop of up to four players. You can head into a mission solo, but the true flavour of HELLDIVERS 2 comes out in company. One detail that makes matches legendary is permanent friendly fire: a badly thrown grenade or an orbital strike on the wrong coordinate will send an ally to the grave too. That is exactly why every match becomes a mix of tight tactics and hilarious blunders.

Stratagems — the signature mechanic

The series' big hook is stratagems. This is orbital support you summon mid-fight by punching in a short directional combo like a code. Every player fights inside a shared metagame — the Galactic War. Planets are liberated or lost collectively, and the front swings on combined effort.
