What the Reforged edition is

«Reforged» isn't a new entry and it isn't Guild Wars 2 — it's the first Guild Wars, carefully re-released. ArenaNet brought the game back to the Steam store, refreshed the tech side and made onboarding easy: download the client straight from your Steam library, create an account, and you're in Tyria. For veterans it's a reason to revisit old characters and guilds; for newcomers it's a chance to see where a genre legend began.

Three campaigns in one key

The edition's core value is that it packs three complete campaigns, each with its own story, continent and professions:

  • Prophecies — the classic start in Tyria: a journey from student to hero, an epic storyline and an introduction to the core mechanics.
  • Factions — the Asian-inspired continent of Cantha, a clash between two factions and fast-paced PvP content.
  • Nightfall — the desert land of Elona, the hero-companion system that lets you fill out your party, and one of the most polished campaigns in the series.

Together that's hundreds of hours of PvE adventure plus the signature PvP modes Guild Wars made its name on. The key also includes eight character slots for different roles and build experiments.

No subscription — pay once

A defining trait of Guild Wars from day one: no recurring fee. You buy the game once and play as long as you like — no monthly charges, no «one month of game time included that you then have to renew». For the MMORPG genre that's still a rarity.

What's in and what's not

This key is the full base game with the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns. The separate Guild Wars: Eye of the North and Bonus Mission Pack add-ons are not part of this key and are purchased separately. If you specifically want «the whole campaign trilogy with no surprises», this is it.

Region and activation

The key is global: it activates on Steam worldwide with no regional restrictions and no VPN. Activation takes a couple of minutes — open Steam, choose «Activate a Product on Steam», enter the code, and the game lands in your library. On first launch the client will offer to create or link a Guild Wars account to your Steam ID, locking your progress to you.

Builds and signature combat

The pride of Guild Wars is its skill system. Every character has a primary and a secondary profession, and you don't bring all your abilities into battle — you bring a carefully assembled «deck» of eight skills. That's where the series' depth comes from: the same pair of professions can play completely differently depending on the build. Hundreds of skills, cross-class synergies and co-op with hero companions turn party preparation into a mini-game of its own — and in PvP a smart build matters just as much as reflexes.

PvE and PvP under one roof

Reforged works equally well for players who love story progression and for those who live for competitive arenas. In PvE you get sprawling campaigns, elite dungeons and co-op missions you can run with live players or AI-controlled heroes. In PvP it's structured team battles where everything rides on tactics, skill rotation and coordination rather than who grinded gear the longest.

Systems and platforms

Reforged is officially Steam Deck Verified, so it suits both handheld and regular PC play. The interface and text are available in several languages, including Russian, so working through the campaigns and skills is comfortable. Your progress and characters are tied to your Guild Wars account, so you can return to them anytime from any device that has the client installed.
