Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising โ an anime fighter that won't scare off newcomers
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising (GBVSR) is a 2D fighting game by Arc System Works and Cygames, released on December 13, 2023. It grew out of the original Granblue Fantasy Versus (2020) and polished it up: rollback netcode, free crossplay and a stack of new modes. If you love flashy anime fighters but hate the ones where you can't win without a hundred hours in training mode, this is your pick. Specials can be thrown with a single button or with classic motion inputs, and both approaches are viable.
Here you get the game as a Steam gift: choose an edition, provide your friend invite link and account region, and the bot delivers everything for you. Below is what each edition includes, how delivery works and what to watch out for.
What Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising actually is
It's set in the universe of the Granblue Fantasy mobile RPG โ a world of floating islands, airships and a colorful cast of heroes. The fighter gathers those characters and lets them duke it out fairly: nimble Gran, commanding Katalina, the dragon Bahamut in human form and dozens more. At launch Rising has 28 fighters in the base roster, and almost every one has its own mechanics rather than reskinned fireballs.
The series' signature trick is its dual input system. You can throw specials the simplified way with one button and a small cooldown, or with classic quarter-circle motions for no cooldown and slightly more damage. So a beginner and a veteran sit down to the same game and neither is bored.
What's new in Rising specifically
โRisingโ isn't just DLC for the old game โ it's a separate, upgraded title. The key additions:
- Rollback netcode โ online play is noticeably smoother and net matches feel even.
- Crossplay across platforms โ easier matchmaking and a shared player pool.
- Brave Counter and Brave Points โ a new defensive resource that adds depth to defense and counterattacks.
- Party modes like Grand Bruise โ optional goofy fun for a group, a break from ranked.
It also keeps the series' beloved PvE: raid battles against bosses where the mechanics lean closer to Granblue Fantasy itself than to a classic fighter.
Editions: Standard and Deluxe
We sell two editions, and the difference is purely content, not how โrealโ the game is โ both are the full game.
Standard Edition is the base. You get the game itself and the full base roster of 28 characters. If you just want a fighter to brawl with friends and online, that's plenty.
Deluxe Edition is for those who want it all at once. On top of the base it includes:
- Character Pass 1 โ 6 extra fighters: Lucilius, 2B (yes, the one from NieR: Automata), Vane, Beatrix, Versusia and Vikala;
- 4 extra color variants for each of the 28 base characters and 3 weapon skins for them too;
- color variants and weapon skins for the six pass fighters;
- the โGuider to the Eternal Edgeโ costumes for protagonists Gran and Djeeta;
- the Vikala (Yin) premium avatar.
One honest caveat: the Steam Deluxe does not include early access or the Granblue Special Item Set (GBVSR Pack) โ those were tied to pre-orders and to the mobile game. So buy Deluxe for the fighters and cosmetics, not to โplay earlier than everyone.โ
How Steam gift delivery works
The mechanic is simple and spares you any key-fiddling:
- You provide your Steam friend invite link and your account region.
- Our bot adds itself as your friend โ no need to accept anything.
- The bot sends the gift, you accept it in Steam, and the game lands in your library.
- After delivery the bot automatically removes itself from your friend list.
Delivery usually takes a couple of minutes from checkout. Steam Guard isn't required โ the gift is accepted even on an account without it.
Conditions the gift can't arrive without
Two things are critical โ read them before paying:
- Your account region must match the gift region. Steam won't let you accept a gift from a โforeignโ region. So enter your account region precisely and pick the matching item variant.
- You must not already own the game. Steam won't let you accept a gift for a game you already have โ this is the most common reason a gift fails.
Your profile privacy settings must also allow friend requests, otherwise the bot can't reach you.
If something goes wrong
Most often the snag is closed friend requests or an expired invite link. Open friend requests and send a fresh link โ we'll resend. Hiccups in this kind of delivery are rare, and we try to sort them out quickly.
If you're into it, check the neighbors
GBVSR is made by Arc System Works, who have other strong fighters too. For more anime brawling, look at Guilty Gear Strive from the same team or the tag-based Dragon Ball FighterZ. And for a 3D contrast there's Tekken 8.
Who should grab it
Get Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising if you want a gorgeous anime fighter with a friendly skill floor, a lively rollback online and a charming roster. Standard to try and brawl, Deluxe to get the expanded cast and cosmetics right away. And the gift delivery saves you the hassle โ drop your link and region, grab the game.
