How it actually plays
The whole game is built around one brilliant idea — arm-based locomotion. Want to run forward? Paddle your arms backward. Want to climb a cliff? Push off and grab. Want to brake hard? Modes and what to do in the jungle
Gorilla Tag has several modes across the same maps:
- Tag — the classic: the “it” gorilla tags others by touch while everyone flees. Small lobbies, pure adrenaline.
- Infection — the big-lobby format: the infected chase survivors and the horde grows before your eyes.
- Hunt — everyone has a target to catch and a hunter on their tail; a tense, sneaky mode.
- Paintbrawl — team paintball: lob paint orbs, a hit knocks you out.
There are several maps — a forest hub, caves, a city, icy and other themed zones, each with its own climbing routes and secrets. It's cross-platform: from PC VR you share lobbies with players on standalone Quest.
What the gift includes
You get the full Gorilla Tag game for PC VR — all modes, all maps, full online. In-game there are cosmetics (colors, hats, accessories for your gorilla) bought with the Shiny Rocks currency; at the time of writing the Steam purchase comes with a starter stash of Shiny Rocks, but that's a publisher bonus, not the reason to buy — you buy it for the gameplay itself, which doesn't get old.
What you need to play
The one mandatory requirement is a VR headset. Gorilla Tag is VR-only and simply won't launch on PC without a headset. Meta Quest (2, 3, Pro) via Quest Link or Air Link, Valve Index, HTC Vive, any Windows Mixed Reality device — anything SteamVR sees will work. You'll want a bit of clear space around you: you'll be swinging your arms a lot, so move the lamps and mugs out of reach. The game is light on hardware, so almost any modern VR-ready PC runs it without trouble.
How gift delivery works
We deliver the game as a Steam Gift via a bot. We need two things from you: your Steam friend-invite link (grab it from your profile via “Add Friend”, looks like s.team/p/...) and your account region. After payment, our bot sends you a friend request, waits, and delivers the gift — usually within a couple of minutes. You don't need to accept the friend request; the bot handles everything and automatically removes itself after delivery. Steam Guard is not required for this.
Two important conditions — read before ordering
First: your Steam account region must match the gift region. Steam won't accept a gift issued in a different region, so tell us your real region at checkout and we'll pick the right one. Second: Gorilla Tag must not already be in the account's library. Steam won't let you accept a gift for a game you already own — this is the #1 reason gifts seem to “not arrive”. If something goes wrong (the bot didn't add you), it's almost always blocked friend requests or an expired link — fix your profile settings and refresh the link.
