Golf With Your Friends — mini-golf that turns into a friendly brawl
If you've been looking for a game where a calm round of golf turns into shouting, laughing and «how did you even sink that?!» within five minutes — Golf With Your Friends is exactly that. It's an arcade mini-golf game by Australian studio Blacklight Interactive, published by Team17 (the Worms folks). Up to 12 players at once knock balls around wild themed courses, sabotage each other and fight for every hole. Here you buy a global activation key for Steam — enter it and the game lands in your library.
What the game is and why it's so moreish
At its core it's classic mini-golf: sink the ball in as few strokes as possible. But Golf With Your Friends takes that idea and pushes it to the fun kind of absurd. Courses are themed — a pirate cove, ancient ruins, a Worms-style world — and each has its own traps and mechanics. On top of that sit power-ups: turn a rival's ball into a cube, freeze it, fill the hole with honey, or drop a nasty surprise at the worst possible moment. A quiet game of golf becomes joyful party chaos.
Modes and courses
Beyond regular golf there are a few modes that change the feel entirely:
- Classic mini-golf — drive the ball to the hole in as few strokes as possible.
- Hoops — instead of a hole there's a basket; you have to «shoot» the ball in.
- Hockey — the ball becomes a puck and the whole approach to your shots shifts.
Courses are designed to be worth replaying: different themes, secret shortcuts and traps. The built-in level editor and Steam Workshop add thousands of community tracks, so the content is essentially endless.
What this product includes
You're getting the base version of Golf With Your Friends for Steam — the full game with all the core modes, courses, the level editor, multiplayer for up to 12 people and Workshop support. It's a global key: not tied to any country and activates on Steam in any region.
How to activate the key
It's simple: after payment you get a code. Open Steam, click «Games» in the bottom-left → «Activate a Product on Steam», enter the key — and Golf With Your Friends shows up in your library. From there just download it and call your friends. One note: if the game is already attached to that account, the key won't activate again — use an account that doesn't own it yet.
Power-ups: where golf ends and chaos begins
The main thing that sets Golf With Your Friends apart from regular mini-golf is the ability to mess with everyone else. Fill the hole with honey so a rival's ball sticks right at the edge. Freeze their ball mid-flight. Turn a neat sphere into a clumsy cube that rolls all over the place. These little acts of sabotage create the very moments people come back for: you've all but won the hole, and a friend wrecks it in the last second — and the whole room erupts. The balance is tuned so anyone can claw their way back, keeping the match tense right to the end.
How much content there is and whether it lasts
On top of the built-in courses and three modes, Golf With Your Friends has a level editor and Steam Workshop integration. That means once you've cleared the official tracks you get access to thousands of community ones — from fair sporty layouts to outright cruel obstacle gauntlets. There are also 83 Steam achievements and unlockable cosmetics: hats, ball skins and trails. So even when the base courses are learned inside out, there's still plenty of reason to come back.
Play with friends without extra copies
Golf With Your Friends is built for playing together. Up to 12 people online at once, plus Remote Play Together — you can invite friends into a session even if they don't own the game. Shared/split-screen and local PvP are supported too, so a group can gather around one device. The Steam version runs on Windows, macOS and Linux/SteamOS, so it works fine on Steam Deck too.
If you love these party games
Golf With Your Friends is a great fit for fans of silly party games and physics chaos. If that's your thing, also check out Golf It! — a neighbouring mini-golf with the same spirit, Ultimate Chicken Horse for sabotaging your friends, and Human: Fall Flat for physics-based co-op nonsense. All three are about those evenings where «one more round» stretches into a couple of hours.
