Ghostwire: Tokyo β a haunted Tokyo in your Steam library
Ghostwire: Tokyo is a first-person action game by Tango Gameworks, released on March 25, 2022 and published by Bethesda Softworks. It's the same team behind the survival-horror series The Evil Within, but here they traded nightmares for a vivid supernatural hunt across neon-soaked Tokyo. We deliver it as a Steam gift: you get the full base game straight into your library β no subscriptions, no extra purchases and no fiddling with keys.
What the game is about
Tokyo's population vanishes in an instant: a thick otherworldly fog blankets the city, and the streets fill with Visitors β spectral beings inspired by Japanese folklore and urban legends. Headless schoolgirls, umbrella-toting floating salarymen, warped silhouettes β every enemy is designed to send a chill down your spine. The protagonist, Akito, survives only because the spirit of a hunter named KK takes up residence in his body, and together they learn to fight back.
Combat is built around "ethereal weaving": you literally shape spells of three elements with your hands. Wind fires rapid bursts, water slashes in an arc, fire blows away a crowd with one heavy strike. You finish foes by tearing out their glowing core β the game's signature brutal-yet-stylish gesture. A bow, talisman traps and parrying round out the kit, so fights feel like a blend of a shooter and a magical duel.
A living Tokyo as the real star
The true star is the Shibuya district itself, recreated with obsessive love for detail. Wet asphalt reflects the signage, cat-merchant yokai meow in the alleys, and at Shinto torii gates you can cleanse the area of corruption to unlock another slice of the city. Between the main missions there are dozens of side stories about spirits who never found peace: escorting the ghost of a hospital patient here, unravelling a school curse there. The mood swings between cozy urban fantasy and genuine Japanese horror.
What the edition includes
The catalog lists the full base version of Ghostwire: Tokyo for Steam. Importantly, it already bakes in the major free "Spider's Thread" update from April 2023. That update added the roguelite mode "The Spider's Thread", new enemy types, extra skills and combat moves, side-missions, story cinematics and fresh Tokyo districts to explore. You don't need to track that down separately β it's all in one game, and you get the most complete version available.
How the gift delivery works
No keys, no activation codes β the game arrives as a ready Steam gift. After payment our FZR partner bot adds you as a friend, sends Ghostwire: Tokyo as a gift, and leaves once you accept. All you do is click "Accept gift" and the game lands in your library. There's nothing to submit manually β the bot handles everything.
- No Steam Guard required β you don't need to set up any special protection for the delivery.
- The game must not be in your library β the gift can't be accepted if Ghostwire: Tokyo is already on the account.
- Fast delivery β as a rule it takes just a couple of minutes after payment.
Gift regions: which to choose
Ghostwire: Tokyo is offered here in several regional gift versions β it's the same product, only the region binding differs. The one simple rule for a gift: the gift region must match your Steam account region.
- CIS β the simplest choice for Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and neighbours: if your account is in this region, take this version.
- ASIA β works only if your Steam account region is in Asia.
- LATAM (Latin America) β the option for accounts with a Latin American region.
- MENA (Middle East and North Africa) β the version for accounts registered in that region.
If the gift region doesn't match your account region, Steam won't let you accept the gift β so go by where your profile is actually registered. For most players from Russia and the CIS, the right pick is CIS.
Who it's for
If you love atmospheric single-player adventures, Japanese aesthetics, urban legends and flashy magical combat, Ghostwire: Tokyo is well worth an evening. It runs great on regular PC and on Steam Deck via Proton. If you click with the Tango Gameworks style, also check out The Evil Within from the same studio and their rhythm-action Hi-Fi Rush. And fans of slick Bethesda immersive shooters will enjoy Deathloop.
Quick answers
This is the full game, not an add-on. The platform is Steam (PC) only; the gift won't work on consoles. Steam Deck is supported. The main thing at checkout is choosing the version whose region matches your Steam account region: for Russia and the CIS that's CIS. And remember β the game must not already be in your library before you receive the gift.
