What this game is

Forza Horizon 6 is an open-world arcade racing game from Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios, released on May 19, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. Unlike the track-focused Forza Motorsport, Horizon is about freedom: an open map, festival hubs, hundreds of events, drift zones, ramp jumps, off-road races and online co-op. The garage starts with 550+ cars — from classic Japanese coupes to hypercars — and each one can be tuned and painted to taste. Seasons change not just the weather but the road itself: in winter the mountain passes are buried in snow, in summer the same roads become a perfect drifting course.

The Japan map — the real star

The Japanese map in FH6 is the most vertical in the series: a dense Tokyo-style city center, quiet suburbs with traditional homes, and wild mountain ranges. The developers leaned into contrast — in a single drive you go from a futuristic highway to a village dirt road along the rice fields. Dynamic seasons and a day-night cycle make every run down the same road feel a little different. Editions: Standard and Premium

With no base game on the account there's nothing to apply the upgrade to. Get it if you already have Standard and want to bring it up to Premium without buying the base again.

When all the Premium content unlocks

Part of the Premium and Premium Upgrade content arrives over time, not all at once. Car Pass cars are delivered one per week after launch. The two major expansions release post-launch — they're tied to your account in advance and become playable as they roll out. So it's an honest “subscription to future content” inside the edition, not a trick: everything promised arrives, just on the Playground Games schedule.

Xbox Play Anywhere: one purchase, two platforms

Forza Horizon 6 supports Xbox Play Anywhere. That means one key unlocks the game on both Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Xbox app, with shared saves and progress across devices. Start a race on the console, continue on PC from the same spot. DLC bought within Play Anywhere doesn't need to be repurchased on the second device. How to activate the key
