For Honor: buy it as a Steam gift and join the fight
For Honor isn't another hack-and-slash where the fastest button-masher wins. It's a game about blade control. Every fight revolves around the Art of Battle system: you hold a guard left, right or up, read your opponent's stance and decide whether to strike, parry, break distance or shatter their guard. Knights of the Iron Legion, vikings of the Warborn, samurai of the Dawn Empire and the eastern Wu Lin faction clash in one-on-one duels and four-versus-four brawls where fractions of a second and steady nerves decide everything. Here you buy For Honor as a Steam gift: we send the chosen edition straight to your account, and the game stays yours forever.
What this game is and why it sticks
For Honor launched on February 14, 2017, built by Ubisoft Montreal. On the surface it's epic medieval carnage with axes and katanas; underneath it's almost a third-person fighting game where timing and reading your opponent matter most. The original factions — knights, vikings and samurai — were later joined by the Wu Lin from the Marching Fire expansion, bringing Chinese warriors with their own combat school. Every hero feels distinct: some bully with heavy hits and unbreakable defense, some dance in and stab from behind, some crack your guard and punish every mistake. Learning a single character is an evening; mastering the meta is weeks.
Modes: from duels to massive battles
If you love pure skill, head into one-on-one Duels, where there's nowhere to hide and only your hand decides the outcome. Want chaos? Four-versus-four Dominion with zone captures and waves of minions, where smart map play beats raw kills. There are also modes like Breach and the Marching Fire arena, plus a single-player campaign against bots so you can learn the mechanics without the pressure of live opponents. This is an online game, so a stable connection is your friend.
For Honor editions: how they differ
The key thing to understand about the editions: every version is the exact same full game. The only difference is how many heroes are unlocked for you from the start, without having to grind in-game currency.
- Standard Edition — the full game, with 14 heroes unlocked at the start. The rest you unlock in-game with earned currency.
- Gold Edition — the same game plus 6 extra heroes unlocked immediately (20 total). Handy if you don't want to grind unlocks and want a wider roster right away.
- Ultimate Edition — the same game plus 12 extra heroes unlocked immediately (26 total). The biggest starting roster for players who want to try everything without the grind.
No edition locks content away forever: heroes that aren't in your set can still be unlocked through play. Editions are about saving time, not exclusivity.
How we deliver the gift
The mechanic is simple and safe for your account. You provide your Steam friend invite link and your account region. Our bot adds itself to your friends, sends the gift and automatically leaves after delivery — you don't need to accept the request manually and you don't need Steam Guard enabled. The whole process usually takes a couple of minutes from checkout. Then you just accept the gift in Steam and For Honor lands in your library.
The region detail that matters
Steam will only accept the gift if your account region matches the edition's region, so choose the variant for your Steam store country. And one more Steam rule: the game must not already be in the recipient account's library — you can't accept a gift for a game you already own. If you're unsure of your region, check your Steam settings, where your store country is shown.
Who For Honor is for
For anyone tired of shooters who wants to feel the weight of a weapon in their hands. For those who thrive on duel discipline — a fighting-game rhythm wrapped in medieval armor. And for those who love team brawls where victory goes not to the fastest but to the most composed. If that combat speaks to you, check out our other Ubisoft titles — like Rainbow Six Siege for fans of tactics and reading the enemy, or the adventures of Assassin's Creed Valhalla if vikings and northern sagas pull at you. And if you enjoy co-op survival and raids, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is worth a look.
The short version of buying
Pick the edition for your region, drop in your invite link and account region, place the order — and within a couple of minutes For Honor is yours. No subscriptions, no rentals: buy the gift once and play as long as you like.
