Final Fantasy XIII for Steam: a gift straight to your library
Final Fantasy XIII is the thirteenth mainline entry in Square Enix's legendary JRPG series, released for Windows PC on Steam on October 9, 2014 (the game originally debuted on consoles in 2009โ2010). Here we hand it over not as a key but as a Steam gift: you enter your friend invite link and account region, and our bot โ running through the FZR service โ adds itself, sends the gift, and leaves your friends list. You don't accept anything manually, and Steam Guard isn't required.
What Final Fantasy XIII is actually about
The story unfolds in the floating world of Cocoon, ruled by the divine machine-gods called fal'Cie. The heroes โ Lightning, Snow, Sazh, Hope, Vanille and Fang โ are branded as l'Cie: cursed souls bound to carry out a god's will or be turned into monsters. The journey takes the party from Cocoon's tight, almost cinematic corridors out to the sprawling open plains of Gran Pulse, where you can finally breathe, hunt giant beasts and take on side quests.
The Paradigm Shift battle system
XIII's signature is its fast paradigm-shifting combat. Each hero learns roles: Commando, Ravager, Sentinel, Medic, Saboteur and Synergist. Mid-battle you swap the whole party's role set on the fly to match the enemy โ raise a defense in time, build a damage chain to break the stagger gauge, and drop a boss in seconds. It isn't a โmash attack to winโ system but quick real-time tactics, and that's exactly why XIII is still loved.
What's in the Steam version
The PC release is the complete game with widescreen support, English and Japanese voice acting, and Steam achievements. It's a full standalone base game โ you don't need any other title in the series to run it. Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII are separate sequels sold on their own.
Regional versions: base and RU/IN/CIS
On Steam, Final Fantasy XIII comes in regional versions, and for a gift that matters. We carry two:
- Base version โ covers a wide list of countries and fits most accounts outside the CIS.
- RU/IN/CIS version โ for accounts in Russia, the CIS (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine) and India.
Your Steam account region must match the gift region โ otherwise Steam simply won't let you accept it. If you're not sure which region you're on, check your Steam account settings before buying and pick the matching option on this page.
How the gift delivery works
After you place the order, our bot adds you as a friend through your invite link and sends the gift โ usually within a couple of minutes. All that's left is to accept the gift in Steam, and Final Fantasy XIII shows up in your library. You don't accept the friend request, and after delivery the bot removes itself from your friends list. Two conditions Steam needs: the game must not already be in the account's library, and friend requests must be allowed in your profile settings.
The heroes you play as
The party is built from six very different characters. Lightning, a cold-edged former soldier, is effectively the face of the whole game. Snow is the big optimist who wants to save everyone. Sazh is a father dragging along his son and a comic chocobo nesting in his hair. Hope is a teenager working through grief and growing up. And two natives of Gran Pulse, Vanille and Fang, whose story holds the plot's biggest twist. Throughout the game the party splits into pairs and reunites, and each hero opens up through their battle roles.
Growth through the Crystarium
Character progression runs on the Crystarium โ a grid of nodes reminiscent of the Sphere Grid from Final Fantasy X. You pour crystal points earned in battle into the roles you want, unlocking new abilities, HP and strength boosts. The system is simple at the start and noticeably deepens around Gran Pulse, where it opens up for builds, hunting mark monsters and preparing for the game's most dangerous foes.
PC version technical notes
The 2014 Steam release added widescreen support and 60 frames per second, which the console versions of that generation lacked. It runs on Windows, isn't demanding on hardware and ships with Steam achievements. For a gift this means one thing: you receive the standard Steam version, which you install and launch like any other Steam purchase.
Is XIII a good place to start
Final Fantasy XIII is a great entry point into the HD-Final Fantasy era: a self-contained story, an approachable battle system and one of the most stylish visual identities in the series. If it grabs you, the direct sequels Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII are next, and from another branch of the series there's the modern Final Fantasy VII Remake. All of them are in our catalog too.
