Farming Simulator 22: Steam key for the base game, editions and add-ons

Farming Simulator 22 by GIANTS Software launched on 22 November 2021 and quickly became one of the most popular farming sandboxes in the world. There's no shooting or fighting here — instead you get a whole estate that's entirely yours to run: plough fields, sow wheat, barley, canola, sunflowers, sugar beet, potatoes, grapes and olives, raise cows, sheep, pigs, chickens and even bees, harvest forests and process crops through production chains. Seasons, crops and machinery in FS22

The headline feature over earlier entries is the seasons system. The year is split into spring, summer, autumn and winter, and the time of year decides what to sow and harvest and when. In winter the fields rest while you focus on machinery, forestry and logistics. The game has over 400 licensed vehicles and tools from real brands — John Deere, CASE IH, CLAAS, Fendt, New Holland, Massey Ferguson, Valtra and dozens more. Each model behaves differently: varying speed, working width and fuel use. A real highlight is production chains: instead of just selling grain you can make flour, bread, fabric, plush toys and sell the finished goods for more.

Base game and three starting maps

The standard edition is Farming Simulator 22 itself with a starter set of maps: Elmcreek (the American Midwest), Haut-Beyleron (southern France) and Erlengrat (an Alpine setting leaning into livestock and forestry). That set alone is good for dozens of hours. If you're installing the game for the first time, you want an edition from the 'Editions 📀' tab, because the base game is already inside it.

Platinum Edition and Platinum Expansion

Platinum Edition is the base game plus the Platinum Expansion, an add-on with a forestry focus. It adds a Pacific Northwest-style map with dense forests and production chains, plus over 40 vehicles, including the debut of the Volvo brand and machines from John Deere, Komatsu, Pfanzelt, Koller, Schwarzmüller and IMPEX. If forestry and heavy machinery are your thing, this is your pick. The standalone Platinum Expansion in the 'DLC & add-ons 🧩' tab is the same content sold separately, for players who already own the base game.

Premium Edition and Premium Expansion

Premium Edition is the maxed-out bundle: the base game, both expansions (Platinum and Premium) and seven content packs at once. The Premium Expansion adds the Central European-style Zielonka map, three new crops — carrots, parsnips and red beet — and over 35 machines, with Dewulf, Gorenc, Agrio and WIFO making their debut while BEDNAR, Fiat, GRIMME, Kverneland and SaMASZ extend the garage. If you want all the content in one purchase, Premium Edition settles it.

Machine packs: Kubota and OXBO

Standalone packs are sets of real machinery under a specific brand. The Kubota Pack (released 28 June 2022) adds eleven Kubota machines: the flagship M8 tractor, the M5, M6 and M7 series, loaders and two utility vehicles, the Sidekick and the RTV-X1140, plus branded clothing for the wardrobe. The OXBO Pack (released 19 September 2023) brings the Oxbo 6030 grape harvester, the three-wheeled AT4103 and AT5105 applicators and the Oxbo 2340 forage merger with a 12-metre working width. Both packs are add-ons and need the base game installed.

Year 1 and Year 2 Season Passes

If you'd rather not buy packs one by one, there are season passes. The Year 1 Season Pass unlocks the first-year content, including several packs and the final Platinum Expansion. The Year 2 Season Pass covers the second year, including the Premium Expansion and the OXBO Pack, and per the publisher saves up to 30% compared with buying the content separately. The passes are add-ons too: the base game must be on the account.

How to activate the key

Activation is simple. Open the Steam client, at the bottom-left click 'Games' → 'Activate a Product on Steam', enter the code you received, and the content shows up in your library. The key is global with no regional restrictions, so you can activate it in Russia, the CIS or anywhere else. One thing to remember: if you buy an add-on, pack or season pass, the base Farming Simulator 22 must already be installed on the same account, otherwise the add-on won't launch.

Co-op and mods

Farming Simulator 22 plays great solo and with friends alike: cross-platform multiplayer supports up to 16 players on a single farm. It also has built-in mod support through ModHub — thousands of free community add-ons: new maps, machinery and scripts, and mods work on consoles too.
