How New Dawn differs from Far Cry 5

Unlike the grim, realistic Far Cry 5, New Dawn leans into colour, mayhem and post-apocalyptic flair. It adds noticeable RPG elements: enemies now have ranks and health bars, weapons are tiered, and you craft improvised guns from scrap. This shifts the series' rhythm — leveling up and matching your gear to the enemy's strength now matters.

Base, raids and progression

A key new feature is your home base, Prosperity, which you can build up and upgrade. Improving the workbench, infirmary and other structures unlocks more powerful weapons and vehicles. You gather resources on "Expeditions" — runs into other corners of a ruined America — and capture outposts that you can then hand back to the enemy to clear again at higher difficulty for greater rewards.

A familiar world from a new angle

If you played the original, New Dawn offers a special treat: you return to familiar Hope County locations and see what became of its characters and the Eden's Gate cult nearly two decades later. The game works both as a standalone action title and as an epilogue to a larger story.

Two-player co-op

Like its predecessor, New Dawn can be played in two-player online co-op. Clearing outposts, storming Highwaymen bases and running expeditions with a partner is a treat in itself — and noticeably easier than going solo on high difficulty.

Which edition to pick

The Standard Edition is the full base game with the whole campaign and modes. The Deluxe Edition adds a pack of extra weapons, vehicles and cosmetic items.
